Chapter 8 - When Hope Seems Lost

"Vicky?". All the professors shouted in unison.

Almost like an instinct, Rose and her friends rolled their eyes at the obliviousness of their family's. Somehow their grandparents had always been blind to all of Vicky's actions, but they definitely knew better than to believe her lies.

"Vicky, what in the fairytale world is going on?". Snow White asked.

"Surprised? Thanks to little miss fairytale collector, I was able to put my hands in the most powerful source of magic ever created." Vicky said, her wand pointing out Rose in her ice prison.

"In fact, you should be more careful whom you trust with such great power, because there's definitely a lack of responsibility there."

"Hey..." Rose started, a frown appearing on her face. But she stopped just as fast as she started, knowing there was not much to be said in her defense.

Her gaze fell upon her grandmother and the other professors, they all had a defeated look on their faces, knowing just how much power Vicky held in her hands, since they were the ones who imprisoned the Snow Queen in the snow globe, in the first place.

"Come on, guys. We need to save Rose". A familiar voice said, and Rose looked to see her friends running towards Hawk as he called for them.

"Fairytale of my dream, mirror shield make the scene". His family weapon appeared and the others followed him, calling for their family's magical artifacts.

"Hahahaha" Vicky laughed vigorously.

"Do you really think that your enchanted toys will help you against me? Bad guys, go get those aspiring heroes and this time make sure to finish them for good." Vicky shouted and suddenly all the villains went for it.

The battle began, the eldest joined their grandsons in an attempt to defend the school ground, but there were too many of them.

Hawk looked at Rose, frozen in a block of ice right Vicky, held like a trophy she had taken for herself. Her once red rose lips were now purple from the cold.

The sight of his treasured 'friend' made his heart ache in anger. He tried to get past the crowded ballroom - which was now looking more like a battlefield - to save her, but his path was blocked by the Queen of Hearts and her army of cards.

Rose felt powerless, she saw her friends struggle to keep up with the villains, but they were outnumbered. Just when hope seemed lost, she had an idea to help them escape.

"Ling-Ling, use your bow to distract them". Rose shouted and Ling-Ling immediately got the idea. Pointing up her bow to the moon, she let a single arrow fly towards it.

A minute later, thousands of enchanted bright arrows started falling down from the sky, from every direction.

Once she saw the villains distracted, as they tried to avoid the arrows, she used her fan magic to get them out of there.

Before they left, she looked at Rose with a reassuring smile and Rose could tell what she meant by that.
