It's being close to an hour and Rapunzel had unfortunately started to doubt herself. The adrenaline she got when she left the tower had run off, replaced by panic. Her mood changes weren't a surprise. The young woman did act this way in the movie, but I didn't know how to comfort her. None of us did. Rapunzel wasn't aware of our presence but Flynn from what I could see.
She ended curled up, crying silently while we watched.
"Should we do something?" Sora had a sad frown on his face.
"I want to cheer her up but I don't really know how." I would know normally. However, how could I while hidding so many truths?
"I have a brillant idea." The man exclaimed. His eyes were directed at me, my own going rapidly to him then sora. "You're a girl. Maybe she'll be less cautious if you go talk to her. Perhaps change her mind to turn back."
I deadpanned at his words. He might be hot, but Flynn wasn't the most selfless right now with only the satchel in his mind. "I'll try to comfort her but," I crossed my arms. "You said Rapunzel really wants to go see the lanterns. It's her first time outside as well."
He didn't look happy. "Aw, come on!" His reaction almost made me cracked up, almost.
I advanced slowly toward Rapunzel's form. She must've heard me because her green eyes turned next to her with surprise. The woman immediately grabbed her pan, making me back up to my friends. "Well, it didn't go as planned." I thought.
"Who are you?" She swung the cooking ustensile with a stare. We put our hands up, hoping to not get hit with her made-up weapon.
The man jumped in front with his back to us. "I told you. They are my sidekicks."
"Sidekicks?" The boy frowned.
Donald, Goofy and I shared the same expression. "Since when?" I thought, my brows raising.
Flynn put an arm around Sora. "Yes, my brave sidekicks!" His eyes urged us for our names, probably sweating to keep up the act.
I detached myself from the group. "Sorry for scaring you, you just seemed really down. I'm May." I smiled brightly. She reciprocated as the others followed suit. "Hey, I'm Sora."
"Donald."
"And I'm Goofy. Pleasure, ma'am." He hyuked.
The woman dropped her pan, her shoulders relaxing as she looked at us bashfully. "May, Sora, Donald, Goofy. It's nice to meet you. I'm Rapunzel." Even Pascal joined, resting on her shoulder. Cute.
Sora thugged on the man's clothes, away from Rapunzel. "Since when is that?"
"You said Rapunzel wanted to see the lanterns and we accepted to follow. Why do we have to be your sidekicks?" We already camouflaged in this world.
Flynn crouched down to the four of us. "I know I said that." He retorted. "The only problem is those monsters might show up again. I can get her to the kingdom, but you guys are clearly more cut for combat."
"That's cause we're heroes!" Donald chirped.
I smiled innocently. "Don't you mean: juniors heroes, Donald?"
He pointed his finger at me. "Don't bring that up!"
"We had our fair share of Heartless. You can leave it to us!" Goofy finished.
"Then that's settled." Flynn showed the way as Rapunzel followed, our group a little farther behind. It was nice seeing both walking together.
"Rapunzel is interesting."
"Yeah, her heart's pulling her all kinda ways." Goofy continued Donald conversation.
Sora crossed his arms. "The outside world must seem so big and scary. I know how she feels."
"It must have been." I smiled thoughfully while thinking of the first game when Destiny Island was ate by the darkness and he woke up alone. My gaze returned to the other woman in front of me. "But it's more complicated with Rapunzel. I can't say all the details..." I trailed off.
"We understand, May." Goofy smiled. "It's probably for the best to not change the worlds border."
The duck kicked his friend's feet. The taller one winced while holding his leg. "That hurt."
"Not border—Order!"
....
The travel wasn't as peaceful as I hoped. There were moments where we could show the greatness of the outside world to Rapunzel, and others where Heartless were like a shadow under our feet. We fought more of the pollen type, swinging keyblades. Sora knew Aeroga too, which helped a lot with these enemies. Despite having both Rapunzel and Flynn in battle, which was a shock, they went ahead when too many Heartless started to block our path. Only the four of us were left and we had no idea where they went.
"I wonder if they are safe." Goofy was curious at their whereabouts.
"I'm sure they'll be fine." Sora stretched with a groan. "Rapunzel and Flynn can defend themselves. I'm positive they are alright."
I nodded my head. "They must not be too far. It didn't take us that long to take out the Heartless here."
The boy stopped suddenly and regardless of our height difference, I collided with Sora's back. "Ouch—"
"That's suspicious." The duck quacked.
I lifted my head to see a strange flower. It did resemble a real one, if normal meant giant.
"Do you think that's another Heartless?" Goofy asked Donald behind who only shrugged.
I scratched my mind for a clue. I knew I saw something familiar. What was it....? Think May, think.
Suddenly, it all came back, this wasn't a flower, nor was it a Heartless. I stopped Sora from approaching it. "May?"
"That's a Nobody."
"Huh?" His head turned were the thing was. The petals pealed, popping what was a Nobody, its scythe in both hands. "New ones?"
"Not necessarly..." I winced. He didn't remember anything that happened inside Castle Oblivion. The four of us took out our weapons with fighting stances. "I'll tell you guys after."
