Part 1:
When he stepped off the bus into the grayness of the early morning, he looked around at some of these people he would never see again. This was the last day of school, and he was glad. Was he, though? School was his only escape. He didn't want to see 99.9% of these people again. Well it's not that he didn't want to, he just didn't care to. He only cares about his crush and his friends. His two friends.
Billy walked into the classroom, dropped his backpack carelessly on the floor, and plopped down in his seat. He put his head down, resting it on his arms which were folded and resting on the table. He could feel eyes on him. He looked up and saw a group of black kids staring at him. The gang that was always starting trouble in school. They were all at their little table, all staring at him. He stares back, angrily. Some looked away, but one kept on.
The kid stood up. Just the one. Billy did the same in order to not look like a coward. They were walking towards each other.
"The fuck are you looking at, faggot?" Billy said.
The kid to a right swing, which caught Billy off-guard. At this point, everyone in the room was watching. Billy threw a right jab and smashed the kid's cheek with a left hook. The kid fell. He laid there, holding the right side of his face.
Another kid from the table got up with a pencil and tried to slash at Billy. Billy held up his arm to try and block it out of reflex and got his arm sliced open. Billy cupped the kid's head with both hands on either side and pulled down towards his knee, which was coming up to smash the kid's face.
Two others came. Billy hit the closest with a left, and did so to the next kid also. Here, he was starting to panic. There was two of them and he didn't know if he could take them both. One kid had propped himself up on his hands and knees. Billy brought his left foot up and smashed the kid's face. Three were down. One was unconscious.
The last kid from the table was up, but he was smart. He watched Billy. Billy watched him. All of a sudden, the kid charged him. Billy kicked the kid's knee with the bottom of his foot and he fell to his knees. He finished him with an over-exaggerated left hook, which would leave a mark.
The first kid was up again. Billy balled his fists. "Hold up! Wait!" He had his hand opened in a hold-on kind of manner. "I'm done. I'm chilling. I'm all done."
Billy shook the kid's hand, and the kid patted Billy's shoulder. "Please just leave me alone."
"Don't worry. I got you," the kid said helping one of the others up. They all walked out towards the bathroom.
Billy looked around the room at everyone's faces. He looked at Jaycee, his friend, who shook her head at the matter. Then he looked to Eva, his crush, who looked down at the blood running from his arm, then back up at his face. He turned away wanting to cry but didn't. He then moved in a quick walk towards the door of the room, exited the room, and went through the front doors of the school into the fogginess of the early morning.
He heard the doors open again. He didn't look back.
"Hey?"
"You okay?"
Billy looked back at Jaycee and Eva. Eva was his girlfriend. "I'm not okay, no." This is when a tear trickled down the right side of his face.
Eva walked to him and cupped his head in her hands, and brushed the tear away with her thumb. "I love you," she told him with a shaky voice. She was starting to cry now as she smiled at him. She hugged him, and as bad as he wanted to resist, he hugged her back.
They pulled away, and Jaycee touched his shoulder reassuringly. That's when Billy noticed he had gotten blood on Eva's bright blue-colored shirt.
"Shit, Eva, I'm sorry."
"What?"
Billy pointed to the drying stain.
"Oh! Baby, it's ok."
The three of them walked back into the building after someone had opened the door for them because the doors couldn't be opened from the outside unless there was a key.
They entered the classroom and sat down. The teacher came in.
"Has anyone seen those four boys that sit there?"
Four? Wasn't there five? Billy thought.
Everyone turned to Billy.
"Billy. Do you know where they are?"
"No."
"Hmm. Okay..."
One kid raised his hand. Billy looked at him and he put it back down.

The last day of school was over. He was walking Eva home. They held hands as they walked down the sidewalk. They reached her house. "I love you, Billy," she told him.
"I love you too."
They kissed, and he watched her as she went inside.
