Chapter 2

Lex's POV

I wait at dogwood street, the leaves are falling, Everest loves autumn he'll be so happy to see how nice everything looks right now, it is a bit chilly though... "hey!" Someone yells, and I see Everest jogging down the street towards me. He bumps into someone and quickly apologizes before speed walking the rest of the way. "Hey! There you are" I say holding back the urge to hug him. " hi! Bring your books?" He says a bit out of breath. " yeah, got them right here" I say patting my tote bag. "Great! Let's go!"  Our hands brush against each other as we walk to the library and I try not to blush. The door creaks as we walk into the library, it's a bit heavy but no problem. " I'm gonna go return these real quick" I say pointing to the return center. " cool, cool, I'll be in the science fiction isle" Everest says. " I'll meet you there in a sec." I say over my shoulder as I start towards the returns center. " hey, so, you like him?" The cashier lady says with an eyebrow raised as if to imply something. " o-oh... um.. no. We're just.. good friends" I say quickly. " he is cute I understand why someone would be" she says shrugging her shoulders. I get my return receipt and speed walk over to the science fiction isle. " hey! Took you long enough" Everest says turning to me, his soft smile throws me off a bit and I can't help but wonder what it'd be like to kiss them. I can see what that lady meant. No! get that thought out of here! We've got books to check out. "Oh, uh, hey. Looking for anything specific?" I ask. " yeah! It's this really cool book I heard about from a werewolf friend. It's about these futuristic heroes fighting a bunch of super cool space aliens!" He says excitedly. It's so fun to listen to him nerd out and ramble about things like this. "Cool, what's the title? I'll help you find it." I say gesturing to the bookshelves. " I think it was called like... 'Attack on Planet Zorb' or something."  He says sifting through the shelves.  " great, we should over here, they're sorted alphabetically." I point to another end of the shelf. " oh! Yeah, sorry" he says.  After a few minutes of searching I found something with a similar title and a cover with to futuristic astronauts with laser guns fighting off goop aliens. This has to be it, it's very Everest, he'd love it. " hey! I think I found it" I wave him over and he practically runs over to me. Our hands touch as we both try to hold the book and I can feel him so close to me as he reads the summary, it feels so weird but so good having him so close...
