A/n Thank you whoever you are for reading! It means so much to me that you are taking the time to! And any constructive criticism y'all have I will gladly take, cus I can't read fanfics with bad writing. Well, I don't have much more to say so... On with the story!
As I looked at Iggy's new, colorful fur and tried to convince myself that Foster really was going to be better off without me. Whether she knew it or not. I cant even tell if I really know it, but it's the only smart thing to do to keep her safe in the end. It isn't like I want to leave her, or Fitz or any of our friends, but I saw how crushed Dex was when he found out that one of the triplets was gonna be talentless. If it ever got out that I could do that, parents would be lining up to get me to check on their "little angels". I couldn't even stand one person finding out that a loved one is talentless, much less hundreds of little girls and boys whose parents would have to gently let it down that they couldn't do the things everyone else could do, and that they'd be outsiders (guys I love the Outsiders) for the rest of their long, long lives. It's like being the ultimate bad guy to everyone. I couldn't stand to say goodbye to Sophie in person because (A she would try to talk me out of it or (B she would be really sad, and I can't see her sad. It would break my heart more than hers. I just looked at Grady's solemn face one last time and spun the blue crystal as I held it up to the light.
As soon as I landed in this big, bustling city I worked on figuring out necessities. first, I need to sell these necklaces and jewelry I found in my mothers jewelry box for some money, and get shelter. Foster would know what to do. she used to live here. Ugh, I need to stop thinking about her! I'm never going to see her again anyway, so what does it even matter. I guess I have to talk to people, I can't survive with no one knowing what I'm saying. I'll just speak... quietly. I started going to "Pawn shops" or whatever and sold my mothers jewelry for some money, though most people I sold to didn't believe the stones were real. (apparently they were worth a lot of money) I walked up to a big building with a sign that said "hotel". No clue what that is but I saw a something awhile back about this place being somewhere I could stay, and I was desperate. I walked up to the man in uniform waiting behind the desk and tried to say,"I need a place to stay," but since I hadn't talked in a few days and my voice was hoarse and it cracked a few times while saying it. He gave me a suspicious look, then once he had determined there wasn't anything inherently wrong with me, had me sign a bunch of papers and give him the money, but after what felt like years of "sign this" or "sign that", the man finally led me up to my room.
I opened my eyes slowly as I heard a lady knocking on my door and calling out in a small voice"Hello? Sir are you in there?". I made sure my voice wasn't hoarse as I called back, "yeah, do you need something?" ( making sure that I didn't say any words that could trigger anything.) I still cringed as I said it from fear solely because I hadn't figured out the trigger word of my creepy unknown power. The lady just answered,"house keeping!" So I decided to let her in and explore the city a little. The first thing I noticed was the big bustling streets. Were those what Forkle called cars a while ago? No clue, but they look fun. I'll check em out later, right now, food. I walked into some random restaurant, and saw a bunch of tables and what is a burger? I'll try it! There were a few couples sitting around and some others but one couple immediately caught my eye. They looked like they were fighting and the girl looked sad, but she also looked a lot like Sophie. Oh shoot, I really have to stop thinking about her. I shook my head to stop, and realized if I stayed here my mind really wouldn't leave Sophie, so I ran out. Huh, you really don't know how fast those cars go till you feel it yourself.
Oop little cliffhanger there. I might have to continue Keefes POV bc I can't handle when people leave me on cliffhangers.
