"Tabitha! Wake up" yells a voice from the hallway. Someone stomps into the room, throwing open the blinds. "Nadia. Get out," Tabitha replies. Nadia, Tabitha's little sister, was always known as the prettiest of the pair. Her golden hair cascades down her back, framing her slender nose and aquamarine eyes. She was the pride of the family. However, Tabitha was not that. And because of Nadia, Tabitha must fight for her inheritance. And because Tabitha's inheritance is jeopardized, she must find a wealthy aristocrat, probably three times her age, to live in comfort with for the rest of her life. After realizing that she blanked out, Tabitha changes into a red gown, her signature color.

She walks down the long staircase from her room to the dining hall, waiting to meet a new suitor. "Tabitha, this is Alexander," says Tabitha's mother, sitting at the long table. A boy with black hair and the darkest eyes sits at the table with her. "Alexander is the prince of the northern kingdom! Isn't that nice?" "Hello, Tabitha. It is very nice to meet you," Alexander says suavely. "It is nice to meet you as well," Tabitha replies. "I was wondering if you wanted to go to the theater with me, to get to know each other better," Alexander says. "That sounds very nice, right Tabitha?" her mother says weakly, remembering the last incident. Tabitha shoots her an evil glare but then complies with her mother's wish. "That sounds lovely, Alexander," she says.

Eldora wakes up to mice scurrying around her. "Oh, hello mice!" she says gleefully. The mice chirp back, glad to see her. They fetch a dress from her wardrobe to run her groceries in. The dress is green, symbolic of her warlock heritage, but she has always had a fondness for blue, a forbidden color to wear in the western kingdom. She takes a green cloak from a hook next to her bed and her leather satchel and walks out the door.

In the town, the people avoid her. Green is another forbidden color, reserved only for people of magical blood. The royalty says that the witches and warlocks have to wear green to honor their ancestry and their connections to the western kingdom, but Eldora knows better. She knows that it is to wear her identity on her sleeves (literally) and to warn the public of her magical abilities. Eldora, a sweet soul, never liked being feared. It always felt like she was being watched by people other than her ancestors.

She spots a carriage coming down the streets of the town. In it, is a boy and girl. The girl looks bored out of her mind, gazing out of the window like a madwoman.

In the carriage, Tabitha sees a girl, robed in emerald, carrying a bag and basket of groceries. Her platinum hair glints in the sun and her bright, blue eyes shimmer in the light. She is entranced.
