Every summer, the Outer banks has a firework show and one of the parks. It has been tradition every year for me and my friends to go watch. But this year was going to be different, I could feel it because I has started to gain a little crush on my boy best friend, JJ, of course I was never going to act on it because I didnt want to ruin our friendship. He is my dearest and closest friend. The only person I had told is my best friend, Kiara, and ever since I told her she has tried to get us closer together. But little did I know he felt the same.
Present
" And then I was like-" John B got cut off by the rest of the pogues running up to us while we were sitting on the beach. " Hey guys, how was surfing?" I ask them mainly talking to JJ. I'll admit I do like JJ but its just a harmless crush and plus he is my bestfriend and I also dont think he would go for me. I dont seem like his type. " It would have been better if you came with us" The blonde boy said looking down at me sitting on a beach towel. I look over to Kiara and see her wink at me and I can feel my cheeks heating up. "You alright there princess?" JJ says which caught me off guard and caused me to start stuttering. "Uh- uhm yeah i'm good" "Alright" He says smirking running off to go catch up to Pope who was walking towards the dock to go grab all their stuff so we can go back to the chateau. "I'm gonna go with them" John B says getting up grabbing his shoes and walking off. "omg did you hear that and see that , he has never called me that before i'm freaking out." I say waving my hands in the air. "That was so cute. You guys would have the cutest babies." "OMG SHUT UP" I laugh and hit her arm. We both get up and grab all our stuff and make our way back to the twinkie to go back to John B's.
At the chateau
I check the time on my phone. "6:23" the clock reads. "I'm gonna go get changed i'll be right back." I say grabbing my backpack which has all of my clothes. I've been staying at John B's for the past 3 weeks because I got kicked out and they wont let me come back. During that time, JJ has also stayed here with me. Which has caused us to get closer if that was even possible because ever since we had met on the first day of grade 2 we have been attached by the hip. I change into a yellow tank top and short jean shorts. I quickly put my hair up into a white claw clip and walk out of the bathroom. " Look at my girl. She's so hot. Any guy would be lucky to have her." Kiara says showing me off mostly to JJ. Out of the corner of my eye I can see JJ smirking looking me up and down. "Can both of you stop for just like two minutes and get ready so we can get a good spot?" Pope says clearly stressing for no reason. "Pope relax man were supposed to be having fun tonight not thinking about school and scholarships." "Easy for you to say JJ, you dont have a scholarship to lose. Whatever you right. Just hurry up i'm begging you."
Time skip
"Jay, pass me the joint" Kiara says. "You guys are really doing that as were driving?" Asks John B "Thats why were not driving, Pope is." I say reaching for the joint from Kiara. Were just pulling up into the parking lot when Pope suddenly hits something in the road and i go flying back, and it just so happens that I am sitting right infront of JJ so when I fly back I slide backwards and my head lands on his chest. My cheeks are burning up again a quick apology is all i mutter before scurrying out of the van. "Y/N c'mere for a sec" I hear JJ yell from behind me. "Uhm alright coming." I shoot Kiara a quick look and she does a hand gesture that tells me to go over there. "What's up JJ?" " I just have a quick question." There is a noticable height diffrence between the two of us so he has to practically look down at me while asking me. "Yeah of course, you can ask me anything" "Do you like anyone y/n?" My heart drops into my stomach. "Uh why do you want to know?" I say trying to act confident but I know JJ can see right through this "Do you?" He says with those eyes. Ugh those eyes, the eyes I can't resist. I take a long deep breath in "Yes. Maybe I do" "Oh really? What's his name?" Is JJ Maybank getting... jealous? I let out a little chuckle "Is somebody jealous?" "I dont get jealous. Just tell me. Please?" He says trying to do puppy dog eyes. "If i tell you who I like, will you tell me who you like?" I nod "Okay well she has brown hair, the prettiest green eyes, and I could name a million more things about her but one of my favorite things about her would have to be her beautiful personality, she has got to be one of the nicest people I have ever met, she cares about everybody and their feelings and always puts other first." By now I can feel him staring down at me. "She sounds beautiful" "She is" "Well since you told me I guess i'll tell you. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, the cutest smile and he cares so much about me." "He sounds great" "He is."
