"Lucid, come play with me!" My little sister, Tracy says to me. I go in her room and sit with her while she gets her teaset out. We continue on to play her cute little tea party.
"Here we are, madam. Would you like me to pour some tea for you?" She says in a cute British accent. She's adorable, I love her so much.
"Why yes, madam. Thank you." I say back.
We continue to play and out of no where smoke fills the room through the door. I hear her screaming but I can't find her.
"Lucid. Lucid! Where are you!! Help me!"
"Tracy?!" I find her and I rush out the room. The entire house is filled with smoke, I carefully make my way to the front door, Tracy in my arms. I'm almost there but then I can see people lying on the floor. Burns all over them. And then, I pass out from the smoke.I wake up, crying hysterically. Trying to keep my sobs low, so I don't wake anyone. My door immediately opens.
"Hey, hey. What's wrong?" It's the girl. Dammit, I forgot her name. She turns on the light and closes the door. She comes to me and sits on my bed.
"Hey, what's the matter?"
"I-I h-h-had a n-nightmare."
"Was it about like, why you're here or something?"
"Y-yeah."
"Happened to me a lot, when I first came here. One year ago. I would wake up screaming. It was awful."
"Why are you here?" I say without studdering, finally. I was able to stop crying.
"My step-dad use to beat me and my mom. Then one day he beat her too hard and yeah.."
"I'm so sorry."
"Really sucks."
"What about your dad?"
"He died when I was 2. He was in the military."
"Wow. That really sucks. I'm sorry."
"It's alright."
"So how old are you?"
"13."
I was one year off.
"Ohh. So what's it like here?"
"It's alright, I guess." Uh oh. That doesn't sound good.
"Why just alright?"
"I don't know. It just doesn't feel like home."
"Oh, I get it."
"Yeah. I'm gonna go. I'll see you tomorrow at breakfast." She got up and left. Something doesn't feel right.
