If Jaren died (don't attack me pls)...

I've been feeling morbid and deathy, so here's a morbid and deathy update. Don't kill me please I don't have much to live for but still. Anyways, let us dive in, dear humans.

- He's a pretttyy healthy person, so I assume it won't be a young death (unless he gets stabbed but eh unlikely?). For the sake of this though, I'm gonna say that Kiva and Jaren have a child who's around the age that can rule (meaning they aren't prunes completely).

- A realllyyy ironic and not funny but kinda is way for him to die would be a medical related thing, right? Something that Kiva couldn't save him from. In the end, she couldn't save him. Couldn't repay him for all the times he saved her, and not just in the physical sense.

- That got me thinking (rare thing). Jaren's father passed away because of an illness in his blood, yes? So I assume that the second everything is normal enough, Kiva gets him and Ori tested for it and gets all the needles required and they periodically go over for a check up. So far so good, he's healthy and alive, right?

-But at one point, he gets admitted into Silverthorn. He collapsed while at the benches after morning training, scaring the living crap out of everyone. The city is scrambling, but no one is more freaked out than Kiva. After all the immediate and necessary things, they run a test and find out the illness was showing it's face more than necessary. Jaren only had a few weeks/ a month-ish left to live.

-Kiva refuses to accept it. Just will not. Everyone else panics but tries to look calm but can't help the tears running down their faces. Their son is shattered, Ori and Tipp rendered speechless and Cal swearing under his breath aggressively. But Kiva will not show emotion. She downright refuses to believe that there isn't a cure.

-So that's what she does instead of her normal shifts; find a cure. Spending every second trying to save him, to keep him here. Her time is spent more with Jaren in his medical room, keeping him up to date with her attempts. Every time he brings it up and tries to get her to sort herself out before it happens, she shakes it away, telling him that he just cannot die. He can't. Just no.

-Jaren himself is obviously terrified. I mean, if someone told me I had 3 weeks ish to live, I'd start bawling. But he seems like the type of person who eventually comes to terms with it (sorta), so after freaking out and crying for a while, he talks with everyone important in his life as well as sorts everything out for his funeral/passing the throne to his child etc. His child, his brothers, his cousins, brother in law, everyone is talked to and tears are shed, but he feels more steady now that there are plans and goodbyes set. The only thing is, he still needs to get to Kiva.

-A week passes after the announcement. Still she refuses to come to terms with it. When she's in the middle of rapidly recounting her experiments, he lays a hand on hers and tells her to stop. Finally, she looks at him, at his soft expression, and breaks down completely. He can't go. He has to live. Jaren's crying too, because he can't bear the thought of leaving the love of his life, of dying. Tears leak for hours, with them repeating 'I love you' a million times and holding on to each other for dear life.

-After him slowly explaining that there really is no point in trying to find a cure, she finally accepts that he's going to leave her. But there was still time to be with each other. So they arranged little dates in his room, watching the stars from the window, lying on the grass when he was allowed outside, snuggling up next to each other, exchanging light kisses for what would be the last time.

-But then the day comes.

-She didn't expect it to come so soon. No one did. But as she sat correcting students' work from the day before, a nurse rushes in with the news. He was dying, and fast.

-Suddenly she was running, into the room next door, trying to find a cure. Blindly mixing ingredients, hysterically grabbing jugs.

-She's crying now, in complete hysteria, because as much as she tried to be prepared, she was never going to be ready for the love of her life leaving her forever. The only reason she stops is when the calming hand of Rhess lands on her shoulder.

-"You should say goodbye"

-Choking on her tears, vigorously rubbing at her face, she walks into the room. Everyone else was gathered there, silently crying. There child holding on to him, openly sobbing, whispering don't go. And there he lay, weak and slowly passing into the everworld. But with nearly zero energy in him, he smiles for her, just like he did every time she walked into a room.

-Everyone leaves for a little so they can have a bit of privacy. And instead of bawling her eyes out like she wanted to, she sits down next to him with a wobbly smile on her face.

- He tells her how much he loves her. Every one of his favourite moments. How he's going to miss her so much. That she's wonderful and amazing and the best thing that happened to her and even if he was dying, he was glad that he spent his life with her.

- And they're both struggling so hard not to cry as she tells him how she loves him with every bone in her body and more, how he saved her time and time again in so many ways so many times, how her life would never be as amazing if she hadn't met him and that she would miss him and just all the feels man.

- But no matter what, she refuses to tell him to not go because she'll be damned if her husband dies seeing her tear stained face and not her smile.

- He tells her he's scared, because he doesn't know how it'll feel, and that he doesn't want to go just yet. She tells him that she'll be her until the very end. That he gets to see his parents and hers, and how her father would love him.

- And as everyone filters back in the room, their eyes red and puffy from crying, he knows he's ready.

- He beckons to their child one last time, saying that he's proud and he loves them so much and take care of yourself and your mother, to be as good as they've been with him.  He looks at Ori, Tipp and Tor, his brothers, not all by blood but by something more. To his cousins, who were there with him for everything. Cresta, who he had gone from punching in prison to accepting like a sister. To Kiva, the love of his life, to his light in the dark. And he says for the last times that he loves them.

-And then in a matter of minutes, the King of Evalon, Deverick Jaren Vallentis, has passed away.

- Kiva is in stone cold shock for a bit. It still didn't feel right, that he was gone. He wasn't gone. He couldn't. She frantically checks his pulse again to feel nothing.

- And then all the emotion she kept in a dam came breaking down with a heart shattering sob as she started crying over his body, when it finally hit her that he was gone, gone, gone.
