Hopeless Case

The days of summer passed, and still Ezra and Carmen remained silent. When the time came for their next school year to start, Carmen was nervous and anxious. As the days counted down to the start of school, Carmen kept thinking of what would happen? Will I be asked about Ezra? Maybe I'll get teased again. Play it off calmly and collectively. DON"T FREAK OUT!

The first day of school arrived, and everyone was drowsy for the first day, but students were social towards the friends forgotten over the long break. The first time Carmen saw Ezra was 1st hour. She figured that by the end of the day, she would know his schedule to see when they could talk.

She still wanted to avoid embarrassment, so she completely avoided talking to Ezra for the first day.

She decided to message him that afternoon. -Hey how's it going? So glad we're back in school*sarcasm* Yay!--She waited for a reply. Finally, what she had been waiting for. * bing *

Ezra-Hey, yeah. Only 179 days to go. That's the message that pretty much ended that nights conversation.

Finally, Carmen was so sick and tired of just small talk between Ezra and herself. She had completely ignored her other feelings towards Ezra and she focused all of her attention towards saving their long term friendship. -Hey, I know this is awkward and I don't want to make it worse. Whether its comfortable for u or not, Im going to put this right.

Carmen-K, why is it so awkward for you to talk to me? During this time last year, we talked everyday after school. What happened, besides the obvious?

Carmen-think about it like this, it'd be like trying to talk to YOUR crush, but they avoid talking because its embarrassing. Don't let what I said last year ruin our friendship. Ok?

Carmen knew exactly what he did. She had used that tactic often. When involved in an awkward conversation or in conversation with someone that isn't very welcome, all you have to do is simply say "gtg" and ignore the rest of the conversation. It was a hopeless case.
