Shattered //The Last Of Us

Chapter 2:

Lola walked the streets of the city, hands grabbing firmly onto her bag straps. She walked at a brisk pace which Ellie found hard to keep up with despite Lola being at the back of the group. "Can we slow down?" She groaned jogging to catch up with the girl.

Lola didn't say anything and kept her constant pace. "Come on Lola, please" again Ellie got no response, the only sound she could hear was the bickering of the adults a head. "I never saw you in Fedra school. What district were you in?" Ellie asked trying to distract herself from how unfit she was. "Ok are you deaf or something? Am I not speaking loud enough or—?"

Lola was too busy staring at the landscape she knew off by heart, to answer the girl's questions. "You don't talk much do you?" That caused Lola to turn around and look at Ellie ,who was looking at her. She didn't say anything but that was the first time she had acknowledged the other girl since they left.

Maria had got wind of Ellie's last question and turned around to look at the two young girls. "Yes and also FYI, She doesn't like questions" Maria directed that at Ellie who screwed up her face. "What?" "Don't ask questions, 9 times out of 10 you won't get an answer" Maria turned back around to continue her conversation.

"Doesn't like questions what does that mean?" Tess asked glancing back to the teens. "She won't answer you if you ask a question" "what why?" Joel asked looking at Maria who glanced at him. "She thinks they are stupid wastes of time " she shrugged in reply before quickly changing the subject.

Ellie thoughtfully paused, thinking as Lola continued to stare at the over grown buildings she had grown to love. Ellie opens her mouth to speak but stopped herself before continuing slowly. "You never told me what district you were in" She stated and Lola snapped her head towards Ellie. "Four" "holy shit I heard horror stories about that place." Lola nodded her head and Ellie grinned having gotten some form of response from her.

"I quit , well was more kidnapped by the fireflies but they thought I quit cause I never came back. I'm assuming you are the same" she stated confidently and Lola shook her head. "No. I was discharged" "what? Discharged? Why?" Ellie didn't get an answer to that question as the group halted in front of the old over grown museum.

"Holy shit" Ellie gasped looking at the building. "You've gotta be fucking kidding me." She muttered as the whole group came to a stop and Maria laughed. "What does it not look cozy?" She taunted causing Ellie to stare at her blankly. "Well there's a way across from the top floor" "well then I guess it's fine" "it's not fine" Lola cut in causing Ellie to look at her. "Full of infected" "wait what?" "What part about my statement is confusing you?" Lola asked with furrowed brows, looking at the girls shoulder.

Maria walked over to the black fungus that had spread on the floor just as Joel had. "You think it's finally dried up?" She asked and Joel bent down "well we're about to find out" Joel used the end of his gun to break the vine like fungus, it turning into dust. "It's bone dry" Joel stated standing up and Maria grinned "that means 95% of those things are too" "thank fuck" Ellie cursed running a hand down her face.

Joel,Tess and Maria all started to rummage through their bags for their weapons and flashlights. Lola pulled one of her hand guns from her holster making sure it was loaded. "Nice" Ellie murmured watching the gun in awe. "Use your knife" Lola instructed and Ellie fumbled around for her knife. Pulling it from her pocket but accidentally dropping it to the floor in her flustered state. She bent down to pick it up but so did Lola resulting in the two bashing heads. "Ow oh fuck" Ellie cursed rubbing her forehead, Lola grabbing her knife and giving it to her. "That hurt" "agreed"
