"Does the name 'Millions Knives' sound familiar?"

Meryl blinked at him, looking to Roberto, who was already removing a pack of cigarettes from his pocket.

"Nothing but whispers, might as well be a myth," he mumbled, flicking his lighter twice before it ignited. "Like the shit all those Plant cultists in the cities preach. Best to leave them be."

There was a heavy silence that fell upon you after that, and you suddenly got the impression that you heard something you shouldn't have. Above you, the thrum of worm wings beat against the air as it took off into the desert.

In that same breath, a bomb had gone off in your head. There was a strange sort of thrill blossoming in your chest when the thought manifested. It was not a plan you liked, but it was a plan nonetheless.

"Wait!" you shouted. You felt as though a rock had been dropped to the bottom of your stomach when everyone's attention turned to you, but you willed yourself to stay there. You had to make this work. "Your brother..I think I've seen him."

Vash had a steely look about him, with maybe a hint of curiosity, but it was more serious than you had ever seen him so far. You swallowed hard, distracting yourself by scratching Momo's feathers at the base of his neck. The corner of Vash's mouth twitched, but before he could say anything, Meryl hopped over to your side. Momo trained an eye on her carefully.

"Before you continue," Reaching behind herself, she pulled a pen and a new-looking notepad from her back pocket. "Could you tell me what you saw? Was he older, younger? When was this?"

Expecting the whirlwind of questions did nothing in the way of preparing you for them. Your mouth opened uselessly as no sound came out.

"How about we take this somewhere else." Roberto suggested. Meryl nodded, looking slightly embarrassed at her own tenacity.

Late last night, two dangerous criminals escaped the May City prison! These criminals, known as the Nebraskas, were convicted of sixty-nine counts of manslaughter and twelve counts of attempted murder.

"That's nearby.." - "How disturbing!" - "I hope they catch them soon.."

The radio garbled on in the back of Rosa's diner, moving on to some other news segment that none of the patrons paid any thought to. The prison break was troubling, sure, but at this present moment it was the least of your worries.

"So what you're saying is that.." Meryl paused, scratching madly at a notepad. "You're not the person running around stealing Plants all over the planet?"

Vash nodded with conviction.

"Aaand the real culprit is your twin brother..who looks exactly like you?" Meryl repeated, re-reading her notes.
