"So, what do you think?" Draco's manager, Mark, asked. Only he couldn't think anything. His mind kept replaying his conversation with Hermione.

"Don't you like it?" Mark asked him again and this time Draco compelled himself to answer.

"Yeah, the place is perfect. Go ahead and give them the money. Oh um..I have to convert my money, I will send it to you once it is done." He managed to say.

"You're not a criminal or anything, right? Because there have been so many sketchy things since I started working for you but I am ignoring everything coz I am very much broke." His manager had genuine panic written on his face.

Draco guffawed loudly at that and patted the man's shoulder to assure him. "I promise you I am not shady. There are a few things you don't know about me but nothing is harmful. Just don't abandon me."

"Okay then, lemme go and start the construction arrangements." Mark was already walking and Draco realised again that he had chosen a good man.

"Mark, one more thing, " he called and the man turned around.

"make sure we finish the building in a week. I need to start working ASAP."

Mark gave him a comically shocked look and Draco feared he might have said something totally offensive.

"You do know that's practically impossible right, Draco? Even if you are an alien you must know construction takes time." He said, walking towards Draco.

"Oh um, yeah yeah I do know that. Just make sure it's ready as - "

"- Soon as possible. Got it, boss. But don't say crazy things like that." Mark finished.

Back at his place, Draco greeted his mum and dad curtly and went to his room, ignoring their questions. He hadn't talked to them properly in the recent years and it's not gonna change now.

Taking out his phone, his fingers found Hermione's number as if on autopilot. He saw she was online but what would he even say? He tapped his phone, laid down, got up, walked back and forth and it was a good 30 minutes before he knew what he was gonna send her.

"Hey" Simple. Neat. Does the job.

His heart was beating faster as if he's a teenager waiting for his crush's response. After 2 minutes, he got her text.

"Hey. How was the location?" Straight to the point then.

"Good. We start construction right away." He sent some pictures.

"Looks perfect for a boutique. Lavish yet intimate."

He had selected well. He smiled. Now what? He wanted to keep talking to her but how? He can say something else about his business plan but it would be boring. He can ask how she's doing but she wouldn't answer truthfully.

"Did you finish eating the pasta?" He opted for lame humor and it worked.

"😂" The laughing smiley made him visualise Hermione sitting on her couch, throwing back her head slightly as she laughed.

"I had 1 or two mouthfuls. Didn't feel like eating I guess."

Wow, is she really that affected by him that she couldn't complete the meal? He couldn't live out his perverse joy because his phone pinged again.

"Say hi to your house elves for me."

Yup, she clearly didn't want to continue their precious line of conversation. He typed out a message and hit 'Send' before he could change his mind.

"I will. Can I take you out to dinner tonight?"

He willed his breathing to call down. 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes passed and she left the message on 'Read'. He was about to throw the phone away when it pinged again.
