"Oi, Looney-Toons!" greets a hoarse voice. [Name] waves a bandaged hand at the professor. He sighs at the odd nickname but greets her with a small smile.
"Good morning, [Name]," he says, rolling in on his chair. He manages to make it all the way over the threshold without falling on his face, a clipboard with [Name]'s medical records in his grip.
"So, how do you feel?" he asks. [Name] shrugs.
"I'm good, I guess. I'm just bored. I feel useless just sitting here on my butt all day." Stein checks her injuries and the state of her soul wavelength, eyes widening.
"Well, you might actually be able to leave today. Your body recovers incredibly quickly." [Name] sits upright.
"Seriously?" she bursts. Stein nods, and [Name] leaps out of bed. She tosses on a pair of her favorite sneakers and a (f/c) hoodie her meister left for her.
"So does that mean I'm clear for training now?" she asks. Stein considers this, turning the bolt in his temple.
"I suppose it would be okay. But I would advise against it. You're not invincible, no matter how quickly you heal." [Name] sighs.
"Aw man. Oh well, thanks Looney-Toons. See you in class." She slips out the door without another word.

Your POV

You stretch your stiff arms over your head as you walk, shaking your muscles out to get rid of the tension. Your legs feel a bit wooden from lying in a bed for three days straight; walking is difficult, to say the least.
A majority of the students mill about in the halls, a small group huddling around the missions board. You slide into the back of the group, getting a glance at some of the missions. There's nothing special there; only a few witch missions have been posted, and quite a few Kishin have been spotted down in South America. You decide to talk to Caleb about signing up for a mission.
"Hey, look. It's that new girl!" someone whispers.
"Didn't she fight that witch last week?"
"Yeah, and apparently she can do soul resonance with the ghosts she summons."
"Really? How do you know?"
"It's all over her fanpage. My brother was reading about it last night."
Ugh, don't people have anything better to do? you wonder. The bell rings and students file into class. You fall into line behind Kim and Jackie, who don't notice your presence.
You move to the back of the room, passing more people who trade whispers about your fight with Kurami. You glower at the floor, pull your hood up, and take a seat near the back behind Soul. His eyes widen when he sees you.
"Huh? Oh, hey [Name]," he says. You return his greeting with a curt nod. Maka turns around, her green eyes also filled with surprise.
"[Name]!? You're here!? We thought you'd be out at least a week or two!" she exclaims. You shrug.
"I heal fast," you explain. She beams.
"Well, it's good to see you're feeling better," she says. "You had us worried for a while there." Soul opens his mouth to say something too, but Stein rolls in on his chair. You sneer when he falls on his face, while the rest of the class breaks into laughter.
When Stein finally manages to get back into his chair, he announces that the class won't be dissecting anything for the next week or so. Immediately the air is filled with exclamations of confusion, relief, and indifference. You fold your arms, narrowing your eyes at the professor.
"As you all know, one of our own students fought a very powerful witch on their own and barely managed to escape without any fatal injuries." He pauses and meets your gaze for a swift second. You stare back blankly.
"This itself is a miracle; however we cannot afford to lose any students, especially now that Medusa is attempting to awaken the Kishin Asura." Several students whisper to each other when he mentions Medusa, and others sneak glances in your direction. You shoot them a  glare that could kill a rhino and pull your hood off. Stein continues.
"This brings us to your next assignment. You will have one week to identify and form a group with two or three weapon-meister teams whose souls are compatible with yours. You must train together and hone your skills so that you are prepared for any dangerous situations you will face. That is all; you have the rest of the period to begin this assignment."  He rolls away and settles in at his desk, retrieving a scalpel and a dead cat from a drawer. You sigh, rolling your eyes. Crazy old nut. You think about the assignment and frown.
Things must be pretty serious if he has to bring the old snake-lady into it. But I really don't like the idea of teaming up with anyone. I'm pretty sure my soul is only compatible with Caleb's. Ugh, this is gonna be difficult. Someone taps your shoulder.
"Huh? Oh, hey Soul." He nods at you.
"Come on. We should go meet up with the others. And I think Caleb will want to see you now that you're out of the hospital." You nod and follow him up the stairs, but stop short when a figure steps directly in front of you, cutting you off from Soul. You have to back up to avoid ramming into their chest.
"Um, excuse me," the person says. You fold your arms.
"What is it?" The figure, a boy with shaggy brown hair and golden eyes,  smiles warmly at you, ignoring your scowl.
"Well, I was wondering if you might consider joining our team. I've heard you're really strong, and it would be a pleasure to have you fight with us." Your eyebrows raise in confusion.
"Um, I don't know. I'd have to check with my partner, and I'm not sure if our souls are compatible with anyone else's." The boy nods.
"That's understandable  Well, let me know if you want in. It'd be great to have you on the team." You shrug.
"I'll think about it. What's your name?" you ask. He grins.
"The name's Aaron." He holds out his hand for a fistbump rather than going for the normal handshake. Huh, this guy's alright, you think. You lift your bandaged fist to his, the corners of your mouth turning up in a smile.
"I'm [Name]. Nice meeting you, Aaron." Without another word, you brush past him. Soul stands there, tapping his foot impatiently and folding his arms. Immediately your smile fades and turns into a glare.
"Took you long enough," he grumbles. You roll your eyes and slap him upside the head.
"Baka Soul. You didn't have to wait for me." He sighs.
"Whatever." You walk up the rest of the stairs in silence.
When you reach the top, you catch a glimpse of unruly blond hair near the corner. Caleb. His back is turned to you, so he's the only one who doesn't notice your approach. You put a finger to your lips to silence the others and slip past Soul to Caleb's shoulder. You lean down by his ear, smirking.
"BOO!"
"EEEEEEEEKKKK!!!!" He shrieks and falls forward on his face. The class laughs and Caleb turns around. His eyes widen.
"What the... [Name]?! You're here!" He pushes himself up off the floor. You chuckle.
"No duh. It's good to see you again, partner." He laughs and picks you up by the waist, swinging you in a circle.
"Waaah!! Caleb, put me down! Not cool, bro! You know I hate when you do that." He swings you around again and puts you down, smirking.
"Yeah, I haven't forgotten. It's good to see you too, [Name]." You ruffle his hair.
"Whatever. So, we gonna get this assignment started or what?" Black*Star grins and leaps up onto the table next to Patty, who's brandishing a mutilated paper creature. You wince when she snaps its neck. Poor giraffe.
"Yeah, let's get this thing started already. I'll lead the team since I'm the strongest one here!" He rambles on and on about his so-called  "awesomeness", but no one really pays attention except for Tsubaki, whose attempts to get him off the table are futile. Maka sighs next to you, her fingers twitching towards her coat.
