He watched her sleeping. Her small frame curled into the fetal position, wrapped safely in the warm blanket that covered the double sized bed. She looked at peace for now. Again he had heard her last night, constantly in and out of bed, tossing and turning for the few hours she did sleep. He knew there was something wrong with her, he just wished she would tell him what.
It was around two weeks later and Carla still hadn't told Peter anything about her somewhat inconvenient problem. It's not that she didn't want to, she just didn't know how. It wasn't the fear of Peter leaving her, that left her unsure, in fact she was sure he would be over the moon. It was completely to do with her. Telling Peter would make it real and she wasn't sure if she was ready for that yet.
So far it hadn't been hard hiding it. The bump still looked like she had sadly gained a few pounds and nothing else. Morning sickness hadn't been a big issue until recently and she hadn't experienced any drastic cravings. But deep down she knew, she just couldn't continue like this especially after last night. She needed his help more than she was prepared to admit.
Waking up that morning Carla stretched out in the bed, glancing over her shoulder to see Peter looking down sweetly at her. Rolling over, she draped her arms and legs over his body, cuddling tightly into him.
"Ay, you okay love? You were in and out of bed all night." Peter calmly asked hoping to prise some information from his wife as to what was wrong with her. Leaning over he lightly kissed her forehead when there was no reply, also embracing her in a tight hug.
"You can tell me anything yah know." He continued pushing and pushing her to open up. Sighing Carla looked up at him and shrugged.
"It's nothing much, just me being silly, y'know what I'm like" She admitted giving him a small smile, hoping he would believe her very vague story.
"Being silly about what ay beautiful? Something's obviously bothering yah." Peter started again. He knew what she had just told him was rubbish, never in his life had he seen her so worked up over something. But just what, he didn't know.
