Chapter 5

The taxi drove Ethan and I to our college where we met Tara, Mindy, Sam, Chad, Quinn, and Anika. I was talking with Ethan until Mindy started talking "ok nerds, listen up as terrifying as this all is I'm actually glad I get to redeem myself for not calling the killers last time" Mindy says and she's fixing her shirt "it's fine" she finishes.

"Ok, the way I see it someone is out to make a sequel to the requel" Mindy says before she gets interrupted "uhm what's a requel" Anika asks her while raising her hand. "You beautiful sweetie wait to ask questions till the end" Mindy says as she smiles at her girlfriend. "Stab one took place in woodsboro, stab two took place in college" Sam said. "Do you think that the killer is trying to copy the movies" I asks Mindy.

"That is one possibility, hero's now in college check, suspicious new characters brought in to round out the suspect list and or body count check check and check" she says pointing to Quinn, Anika, and Ethan. "I don't like this" Ethan says now looking away from Mindy. "It can't just be about stab two" Mindy states. "Why not" I ask. "It would make sense if this were just a sequel, but we're not in a sequel because nobody just makes sequels anymore" Mindy says "we're in a franchise, and there are certain rules to a continuing franchise" she finished

"I had a feeling" Sam said looking down to her lap. "Rule one, everything is bigger than last time, bigger budget, bigger cast, bigger body count, longer chases, shootouts, beheadings, and characters that came before to keep people coming back. Rule two, whatever happened last time expect the opposite, franchises only survive by subverting expectations. If the killers last time were whiny snowflake film nerds with letter box to counts instead of personalities you can bet the opposite will be true here. AND RULE THREE, no one is safe, legacies characters can't bother at this point, usually brought back only to be killed off in some cheap bit for nostalgia, it's not looking to good for Gale and Kirby, ohhhh and it's not even the worst part" she say

"This is the part where she tells us the worst part" Chad said while he's looking at his folder. "The worst part is franchises are just continuing episodic installments designed to boost an ip, which means main characters are completely expendable too, Nancy Thompson, jigsaw, tony stark, James Bond, I mean even Luke Skywalker all died so their franchises   Could live on, that means it's not just the friend group, any of us can go at any time especially Sam, tara, and y/n" Mindy says

"Wait wait any of us, does- am I in the friend group, am I like one of the targets- am I going to die a virgin" Ethan says. "That was a weird overshare" I said. "It brings us to our current suspects, Ethan the shy dorky guy who no one suspects because he's so shy and dorky" Mindy says. "Ok- wait- why am I on the suspect list because I'm randomly chads roommate" Ethan says

"Roommate lotteries can be juked, you could've fixed it to get next to us" Mindy says as Ethan rolls his eyes "how could it be him when he literally helped me get away from Ghostface yesterday" I say defending Ethan. Mindy ignores me and keeps going on about who the suspects are "Quinn the slutty roommate a horror movie classic" Mindy says. "Sex positive but thank you" Quinn says in a questioning tone. "Uhm how did you come to live with Sam and Tara?" Mindy asked Quinn. "I answered their add online" she says

"OK say no more, you've already implicated yourself enough" Mindy says. " it was an anonymous add Mindy, you know we bedded her and plus her dad is a cop" Tara tells Mindy. "And that makes her more likely that's she the killer because having a cop dad is a great cover, DO YOU NOT REMEMBER HOW THIS WORKS TARA" Mindy says now screaming at tara. "Is she always like this" Quinn asks. "And finally Anika, never trust the love interest" Mindy says not smiling anymore. "Ok so we have our rules and we have out suspects" Sam says. "But wait wait what about you guys" Ethan says looking at Mindy. "I mean I think think it's safe to rule out the five of us who went through this last year in Woodsboro" Mindy says. "Agree" Chad now says looking at Mindy.

"Not agreed what if the trauma you all went through caused one or more of you to snap" Quinn says. "Yeah or the thing you got in the killings made you thirsty for more, I mean to be honest here some of the theories online about y/n and Sam are-". "Don't you fucking dare" I said cutting it Ethan . "Ok she right tho, I mean face facts if we're all suspects you're all suspects too" Anika says.
