"Where are we?" I laugh, trying not to fall. Leo is covering my eyes with his hands and leading me somewhere unknown. He won't tell me where we're going. "Don't worry, Angela. We're almost there," he says.

I stumbled over my feet and fell to the ground. I take Leo down with me. "Are you okay?" Leo asked, panicked. "I didn't mean to make you fall. I tried to catch you, but you caught me instead." I laughed at the worried expression on his face.

His expression eases when he sees I'm not upset. "Our first date was supposed to be special," he whispers. I smile. "Well, I've never fallen on a date before, so I'll say this is pretty special."

His hand caresses my cheek. "You're amazing, Angel."

The scorching hot liquid wakes me from my daze, and I hiss in pain. A few people rush to my side with napkins and help. Henry, another intern picks up the coffee cups I've dropped on the floor.

"I'm sorry! I'm so sorry," I plead when I finally get to look at my boss's angry face. Mr. Dobben and Mrs. Sawyer shared appalled looks on their faces.

"Mr. Ridley, we are so sorry for our taciturn intern," Mrs. Sawyer spits my way. She gives Leo a dream-swindled look. Okay, bitch.

"It's fine," Leo finally said. His voice is deeper than I remember. His stormy, blue eyes rise to mine. "Is she hurt? The coffee looked quite hot."

Mrs. Sawyer rolls her eyes. "She's fine. Amanda has always been a klutz."

"Angela," I grit, wiping the coffee off my blouse.

Mrs. Sawyer gives me one of her tight smiles that let me know that there will be a discussion about this later. "Well, Angela, why don't you go ahead and sit out of this meeting? We're almost done anyway."

"B-But--" I sputter. I stop myself and take a deep breath. If I argue, I'll get fired. And if I get fired, I won't be able to provide for Katerina.

"Of course, Mrs. Sawyer," I smile through gritted teeth. I headed out of the room and Simone, a records clerk, gave me an apologetic smile.

I wait in the employee's room for another fifteen minutes before I give it up and head out black. I sit on the bench a few feet from the trashcan and try my best to think about anything other than Leo.

Him being here. Back in California...it's weird. It's not supposed to be like this. But he wasn't supposed to leave either.

"How do you like your eggs?" Kol asks. Maya and I both replied fried, and we both laughed. I had just given birth two months ago to Kat. Maya had moved in with Kol, allowing me to live in the apartment by myself.
