-𝐻𝑎𝑔𝑟𝑖𝑑WHEN ARRIVING AT PLATFORM NINE AND THREE QUARTERS, JADE COULDN'T HELP GASPING IN SHOCK AT THE SIGHT. The train looked majestic and regal, waiting for students to board. She slowly stepped on, taking in every little detail, from the slight scratch on the top to the white mark on the tyres.
Jade looked around hoping for a compartment with no one in it, but every compartment had at least one person in it. She went into one with a girl sitting by herself. She had blonde hair and blue eyes. Looking around awkwardly, she made her way in.
"Err.. can I sit here?" Jade asked hesitantly, glancing at the girl. The girl smiled brightly, a dreamy look in her eyes, "Yes of course, I'm Luna, what's your name?"
"I'm Jade, is this also your first year?" She asked Luna smiling. Luna simply nodded in reply.
A knock on the door disturbed their silence, Jade flinched at the sudden noise, but quickly adjusted herself. A girl with hair as red as fire looked around cautiously, eyes darting from Jade to Luna.
"Hi! I'm Ginny Weasley, is it alright if I sit here?" She asked. Jade and Luna nodded in unison. She took a seat next to Jade, then she started to talk.
"It's great to meet you two! Are you guys excited? I am, my brothers have been coming and telling me all about it! I was dying for this year to come!" She gave a small squeal then turned to Jade.
"Are you excited? I really want to be in Gryffindor! All of my family is in that house, if I don't get it... well I suppose it won't be too bad, I just don't exactly want to be in Slytherin," she gave a small shudder.
Jade looked at her curiously "What's wrong about Slytherin?" She asked, confused at Ginny's small shudder. Ginny looked at her.
"Are your parents muggles?" She asked. Raising one eyebrow at her.
Jade shook her head, "My mums a muggle, my dads a wizard." She sighed softly, what happened a few years ago still bringing her pain. "He left my mum for another witch."
Ginny looked at her sympathetically "Oh! I'm so sorry, anyways, Slytherin is said to be the evil house, filled with dark wizards! More than half of them supported You-Know-Who while he was powerful. Dad reckons their just cowards, going on the side that has power."
Ginny turned her attention to Luna, "How about you? Which house would you like to be in?" Luna stared into space, thinking about Ginny's question.
"I guess I would like to be in RavenClaw, my family were from RavenClaw," she said thoughtfully. Her fingers twirling her blonde hair around absentmindedly. Ginny started to talk once again.
Jade slowly digested this information, thinking. She couldn't help smiling foolishly, remembering she was going to learn magic and be a witch! A real life witch! She would use her wand, say spells that would help her get rid of every problem she had. The sparkles in her eyes danced happily.
Ginny snapped her fingers in front of Jades face. "Hello? You listening, you know it's boring to have a conversation with someone who doesn't talk right?" Jade smiled back sheepishly, rubbing her neck and she said sorry. The train was nearly at the school, people got changed into their robes.
Jade thought of all the adventures she would have in this magical world, more friends she would make, that's when a really tall person came over.
"Right, then. First years, this way, please! Come on, now, first years, don't be shy. Come on now, hurry up!" He yelled, his voice was naturally loud.
People bustled up, not wanting to lag behind. Jade's eyes widened at the sight of the boats.
"Well," Ginny said, "are you going to stop gawking at them and get on?"
Jade blushed slightly, pulling her gaze away from the boats and then she looked at Ginny, "yep, sorry."
- Time Skip cuz I'm lazy -
"Woah!" All the first years gasped, practically in unison. Ginny giggled quietly at this and Jade let out a small chuckle.
The door opened to reveal a teacher, her hair in a tight bun and she had emerald green robes.
"I am Professor McGonagall and today," she said pausing slightly, "You will be sorted into your houses, this will be your house for the rest of the year at Hogwarts." She looked at them, rather intimidatingly. Many first years shrank back at her stern gaze. (My bad, I forgot her starting speech-)
Then she turned around and left. Countless first years starting whispering among themselves, talking about what they knew. A first year gulped nervously hearing what someone else had said.
"I'm sure it'll be fine!" Jade said cheerfully, smiling with a glint in her eyes. A few other first years looked slightly more relieved, but many still looked as though they wanted to turn around and bolt out the school. Finally, Professor McGonagall came back and told the first years to follow her inside.
They were led to a place filled with students, sitting on benches. Many started pointing to a boy, he had raven black hair and on his forehead, a scar in the shape of a lightning bolt. He was busy talking to a red haired boy and a bushy brown haired girl. The red head was nodding at what the boy was saying, while the brown haired girl was shaking her head.
"That's the famous trio, it contains the famous Harry Potter and his friends, Ron Weasley; he's my brother, and Hermione Granger, they came over to my house during the holidays, isn't Harry awfully handsome?" Ginny said, bursting with pride about the facts that they came to her house. Jade nodded along.
Then a hat started to sing, finally at the end, he stopped and everyone burst into a round of applause. Names started to get called up by Professor Mcgonagall.
She called up so many names that Jade lost track of everyone. Many people got sorted into Gryffindor, quite a few into Ravenclaw, some mean looking girls and boys into Slytherin and only a handful of Hufflepuffs.
"Benz, Jade!" Professor Mcgonagall called out. She walked up slowly, quivering slightly, looking at the people below her. Then the hat was placed onto her head.
"Hmmm..." the Sorting hat said, "you're brave like a Gryffindor, smart like a Ravenclaw, kind like a Hufflepuff and ambitious like a Slytherin. The sorting hat stayed silent for a bit longer while Jade clutched the stool, her hands sweating.
"Well... better be in... SLYTHERIN!" the hat called out. Jade looked around, Slytherin were glancing at her in a look of disgust and the other houses had a look of confusion etched on their faces. She stood up and slowly walked over to the Slytherin table.
"Filthy half-blood" A boy with blond hair sneered at her. Jade ignored him. He spoke louder.
"Filthy half-blood" he sneered once again. Jade looked at him as though nothing had happened and smiled sweetly, waving at him. He sneered at her then turned away.
She didn't know how much trouble he would cause her.
