CHAPTER TEN !
✧.*
A WHOLE CELL BLOCK had been cleared out, estella had killed her first walker with a knife that daryl gave her, and it felt great. it didn't feel great at first, but now she knew what she had to do, it did. she didn't like the idea of killing walkers but she had to understand that they were dead, and they had no hesitations on killing her, so she shouldn't hesitate, either.
even if it was only through a face, it felt good. she felt strong, like she was an actual member of the team now. it was nice to know daryl trusted her enough to have her own knife, too.
daryl had decided to take the perch as he didn't want to sleep in a cell, so estella had chose the cell closest to him. she put her stuff in here, and went to sleep on the bottom bunk. tommy was sleeping on the bottom bunk next to her, taking up most of the room so she was cramped into the wall. he had been sleeping a lot more recently. all the walking had fired him out, he was old and getting fragile.
it felt good to sleep an entire night in an actual bed, even if the mattress was thin. it was better than the ground.
in the morning, daryl went with rick, t-dog and hershal to find the armoury. they found it.
"not bad." rick said as they laid out all the weapons on the table. "flashbangs, CS triple-chasers. not sure how they'd work on walkers, but we'll take 'em."
daryl picked up one of the guard helmets, that had a dirty, gooey walker slime on the top. "i ain't wearin' this shit."
"we could boil 'em." t-dog said, holding up an even slimier one.
"ain't enough firewood in the whole forest. no." daryl said, "besides, we made it this far without 'em, right?"
"hershal?" carol stepped out, telling him to go with her.
"everything all right?" rick asked, carol nodded.
"yeah, nothing to worry about." she replied.
estella was sat on the stairs with maggie and glenn, playing a game of 'guess the person,' or 'guess the object.' she was having fun with them. they were amazing, but maggie made her miss her mom. see, maggie acted like estella's mom, which made her wish that her real mom was there. and now they had moved away from the farm, none of them ever went back to leave another letter in the house for her mom.
so how would she ever find her? she had thought about that a lot. it had been an entire nine months since she had left a note for her mom. what if she found it and went to the farm?
