Chris Argent was on the phone, pacing around the kitchen.

"He's just a kid." Chris said angrily.

"He got bitten," the voice on the other end replied. "See the effectiveness of the machine. It can detect even those who have been bitten and not turned yet."

"My point exactly, Dad." Chris stopped walking. "We have a code. Jackson has not turned or killed anyone as per our knowledge."

Gerard laughed. "I don't care about the code."

Allison suddenly stepped into the room.

"I'll talk to you later." Chris hung up.

The next day.

Lacrosse practice was going on. But Scott's mind was elsewhere. He was on the front line physically but mentally he was somewhere else.

The whistle blew as Scott landed on his back with a hard thud.

"Get up, McCall, we don't have all day." The Coach yelled then appeared next to Stiles. "What's going on with your best friend since the holidays ended?"

Stiles hunched down his shoulders. "He and Allison broke up, Coach."

The Coach grimaced. "Happens to the best of 'em."

Another whistle blew as Scott took another fall. But this time he didn't get up. Face to the ground he heard a distinct form of howling.

"What's McCall doing? Kissing the ground?!" The Coach yelled in frustration.

Stiles looked at the direction the Coach was pointing to. Scott no longer was there.

Miles away from the lacrosse ground.

Scott finally reached the source of the howling. But he didn't expect what happened next. The same type of machine which had attacked Jackson was emitting the howling sound through its interface. They were in a vacant alleyway.

Scott had to change to his werewolf form because he predicted what would happen next. The machine turned his guns on to Scott but Scott evaded the bullets through his superhuman speed.

Scott was hiding behind a garbage bin not sure of what to do next and his heart was pounding against his chest. The machine was very slow but precise in its movement as it scanned its surroundings looking for Scott.

All of a sudden, another howling sound was heard, but this time close by. Scott looked behind him to see a shadowy figure on top of a building. He couldn't make out clearly if this was a wolf or not. But just like with the machine, Scott couldn't detect a heart beat.

The unknown figure got on all fours and landed on the ground without any damage. The figure then moved at superhuman speed towards the machine. The machine fired its guns at the new target but the target was so fast it ran into the middle of the machine's shooting path narrowly evading the bullets.

SLASH!

The machine collapsed on the ground after one hit from Scott's new ally. Scott finally got a look at the individual and it was definitely some sort of wolf. The skin was dark blue and it looked like Derek's uncle but was much shorter in comparison, definitely Scott's height.

The new wolf had the same red eyes as Peter, Derek's deceased uncle.

Both wolves stared at each other.

Scott noticed that the new wolf didn't have natural claws but metallic ones.

"W-who are you?" Scott stammered.

The wolf turned around without a word and disappeared.

Scott still couldn't detect a trace of a heart beat from it.
