My hair flies dramatically in the wind trailing behind my head as I dangerously run down "the hill". Kalani is a few paces ahead of me and I try desperately to keep up, making sure that her dark navy blue romper is in sight. She doesn't wait up for me at all, practically jogging down the hillside like she's a professional mountain climber. Finally she stops, waiting for me where the stairs that lead to the bleachers begin.

"Hurry up we're gonna be late!" she demands me to move faster but I just throw my hands up making a "wtf sorry" face.

She stays in place until I catch up. From where we are, the bleachers are all lined up below us, row by endless row. Almost every section is filled completely; there's students, moms, dads, brothers, sisters, grandparents, everyone. Kalani scans the crowd looking for someone. I watch as she locates who she was looking for but don't get to see who it is.

"Come on," she quickly grabs my arm and pulls me in the direction. We pass over a few parents and a loud group of old men who look drunk.

"Addison! Addy! ADDY!" Kalani's voice explodes into my left ear penetrating my eardrum.

"Shit" I groan holding my ear. She continues screaming at the top of her lungs but the tall blonde girl doesn't turn around, she looks determined to get to the bottom of the bleachers by the field.

"Here just sit down," Kalani says pulling me down with her, "Addy will be back in a second."

"Why in the hell is there so many people here? I thought this was just a tryout," I ask tucking my hair back behind my still stinging ear.

"It's the last football tryout, coach is picking whose first string. This is a huge deal," Kalani emphasizes.

"I get that but why is half the town here?" I ask looking around at the growing crowd.

"Dillon loves the Panthers. Get used to it," Kalani answers flatly.

I look back out into the grass field. I see Addy talking with some guy. I haven't seen him before but him and Addy seem to be pretty friendly. In a weird way they sort of look alike: both have blonde hair...except this kid has got major baby face syndrome.

"That's Jack Johnson, Addy's boy toy," Kalani says obviously noticing me staring.

"So they're dating?"

"Pretty much," she answers adjusting her lightly curled hair.

A slight click of something that sounds like a megaphone taps into the noise of the crowd gently, it is followed by a loud screech.

"Hey Let's Go! Divi up! I want you in grade order, freshman to senior let's go!" a booming voice interrupts the chaos and the stadium goes silent.

I hear someone faintly calling my name and I search for the source.

In a daze, I skim the many people for a familiar face until I find one. To the right at the very bottom of the bleachers I see Kendall, she's standing with Jax. I wave my arm at them but neither of them see me nor Kalani. After a few good waves, Kendall finally realizes it's me. Before she climbs through the crowd I see her quickly hug Jax and say goodbye to him. I'm not sure if Kalani saw the hug too or if it was just me. It's not that weird and I don't wanna make a big deal out of it so I don't say anything. But, I certainly wouldn't hug Kalani's brother.

"There is so many people here my gosh," Kendall says walking towards us to sit down.

"I like this, it's cute," I compliment her grey cardigan which matches well with her black cami top and light washed shorts.
