how Lisa asked for Irene's parents blessing - in a way

It's not Lisa's first time to step inside the Bae compound in Daegu but she can feel the weight of her steps as she made her way to the front door of Irene's parents' house. She knocked three times before the door opened revealing Irene's younger sister who she suspected doesn't like her. The evidence? The girl has a habit of avoiding her whenever she's here.

"Eomma!" the girl shouted, "Unnie's girlfriend is at the door!" and then she left Lisa standing.

She heard feet scrambling and the door opened widely and revealed both of Irene's parents.

"Lalisa!" Irene's mom greeted. She's a head shorter than Lisa with a kind-looking face. Irene's father is slightly taller than Lisa and he looks like the male version of Lisa's girlfriend.

Lisa bowed as a sign of respect. "Annyeonghaseyo."

"Come inside, we are just about to have dinner." Irene's Dad said.

Lisa removed her boots and entered the Bae home.

"Sorry for asking you to come here." Irene's mom said
as they sit at the table. Lisa beamed when she saw that they're having hotpot. Irene's sister is nowhere around.

"No worries, ma'am."

They started putting ingredients in the boiling pot and eat.

"We just want to talk to you..." Irene's Dad said, while stirring the pot with a ladle.

"Four years, sir. Will be five in December." Lisa answered.

"Right. So five years. Joohyun's mom and I.." He said. while he pointed at his wife. "Are very curious where do you think this relationship is going?"

"We are getting old and we'll be happy to see our daughter settled. We know you are at the peak of your career but if you think your relationship is temporary, isn't it unfair to make our daughter wait for nothing?"

Lisa frowned. She didn't like what she just heard.

"With all due respect sir, Joohyun isn't waiting for nothing." Lisa responded. "I-uh. Honestly I was just finishing all of my commitments." Somehow Lisa had a hunch that this was the reason why she's summoned here. She took out a box and opened it and laid it down on the table.

"It was my Mom's. It was given to her by my biological Dad before he died." Lisa said, looking at the ring.
"I am planning to ask Joohyun soon and it will be great if you'll give us your blessing."

Irene's parents looked at each other, smiling. Her mom was the first one to speak.
"With the conversation that we're having, I guess you already know the answer."
"We will be happy to give you our blessing, Lisa." Irene's father said.

Lisa stood up from her chair and gave Irene's parents a 90-degree bow.
"Thank you so much. It means a lot to me."

Irene's mom gestured her to go back to her seat.

"And one more thing, I know you are already aware of Irene's condition. It will be hard for her to conceive but we really want grandbabies." Irene's father said.

Lisa who is now feeling lighter chuckled.

"That's what my mom said too. I am an only child and Joohyun has one sibling."
"Joohyun said she wants a big family and I do too."
"We'll do our best, ma'am and sir."

When she met Irene much later that night, her girlfriend just laughed when Lisa told her about her sister's behavior.

"She's never into Kpop but when she did, the only idol she dared to like is in a relationship with her sister."
