Muzan sat in his office with frustrated looking at the plans lying before him, all of which concerned how to deal with the demon slayers. He waved all the papers off the desk with a wave of his hand, and slammed his other hand against the desk. So far, all searches for the blue spider lily have failed, and the destruction of the corpse has not been so easy due to the fact that they are growing in strength. This displeases the demon king for fear that all his plans and efforts will be thwarted.

- Do you have to be so loud? I'm trying to concentrate

Tanjiro was visibly irritated by Muzan's behavior, so much so that he decided to talk to him. For a long time, Muzan was thinking about how to respond to the statement of the younger demon.

- I didn't expect you to talk me. What are you trying to concentrate on?

- I try to have visions

Muzan recalled how he had discovered that Tanjiro sometimes had visions of events in the past or future, although these were rarer.

- I'll try to stay quiet

- At last

- Nakime sent Kokushibou to me

In the answer, only the sound of the biwa was heard, then the demonic samurai stood in front of Muzan. He bowed immediately, expecting what the demon lord would want from him.

- Inform upper moons 2 and 3 to leave Tanjiro alone for today, you too. Tanjiro is trying to have visions, he needs full concentration to do so

- Yes Master

Muzan left the fortresses for the city with his "family." Walking down the streets, his "wife" noticed the confusion on his face, which was rare.

- Is everything all right?

- Yes, I'm sorry. I'm having a little problem with someone

- What's the problem, maybe I can help?

Muzan considered the woman's words, perhaps he really needed advice. There's no harm in asking.

- You see, I met someone whom I haven't seen for many years. We used to have a lot of nice moments, and now it's hard for me to talk to him at all. It was my fault that he decided to leave, and now he avoids me like the plague and limits contact to the minimum possible. I've tried talking to him, but to no avail

- Complicated matter, maybe I should try to talk to him and find out how to help you.

- I don't know. Don't get me wrong, the point is, I don't want him to think I'm using you or something

The woman just looked at him pityingly, sometimes Muzan reminded her of a lost child.

- Don't worry, I know what I'm doing

- So be it

He invited her to the Infinite Castle, specifically Tanjiro's mansion. He had already finished his meditation, thanks to which he could have had visions.

- Who are you, my dear? - he said, surprised to see the woman, he turned towards Muzan, speaking in a rough voice - Kibutsuji

Muzan felt an unpleasant shiver running through his body at his words. Aside from Yoriichi, Tanjiro gave him the feeling that if he wanted to, he could kill him.

- Would you like a cup of tea?

- I would love to. Oh, and I'm his wife

- I understand- Tanjiro did not believe in a single word

- What's your name?

- Tanjiro

- So Tanjiro, how long have you known my husband?

- A long time

- I don't know what happened between the two of you, but I'd like to know a few things

- Feel free to ask

- I'll leave you. I have paperwork to fill out

- Has he ever hurt you?

- Yes and no. It's complicated

- You feel a great dislike for him. Do you hate him that much for that?

- It's not that I hate him, it's that when I decided to leave, I wanted to start over. And now that we've met again, he's been trying to communicate with me. He doesn't see and don't understand that I don't want to go back to the way things were. I left because there was no point in trying to fix something that was beyond repair

- ... - the woman did not expect such a response - I'm so sorry

- Don't worry, it's not your fault. It's mine...

Muzan didn't believe what he was hearing. After all, it's not Tanjiro's fault, but his.

~Flashback~

Tanjiro and Muzan were sitting on a bench watching the festival. Such mundane things relaxed Tanjiro, made him feel normal.

- Reminds me of the festivals in my hometown

- Really? If you want, we can go to the next one

- That sounds wonderful

Muzan didn't understand why, but he felt a warm feeling in his heart. Tanjiro had something about him that reset the hardships of the day and even life, allowing to enjoy undisturbed peace.

- Tanjiro, I decided to create more demons. Perhaps one of them will conquer the sun

- I'm not sure this will work. It's your choice, just keep in mind the fact that not everyone can live up to your expectations

- You have no problem with that

- Oh Muzan, sometimes I wonder which of us is really older

Tanjiro laughed, he didn't take Muzan's words seriously. He knew that Muzan was a perfectionist, he himself was far from perfect. He wasn't sure what Muzan actually saw in him.

- Tanjiro

- Yes?

- You, won't you leave me alone? Right?

- I don't quite understand what you mean

- The thing is, I'll never meet another person like you. Nobody can replace you. That's why I wonder if you can promise me, that you'll never leave?

- As long as you don't hurt anyone

- Agree

~End of Flashback~

Tanjiro and Muzan remembered this promise, both of them broke it.

- What have I done?- they both said at the same time

The woman tried to comfort Tanjiro who was crying salty tears, while Muzan tried not to make a sound while sitting resignedly on the floor.

- What happened to us?- the question flashed through their minds

- I have to fix this- said Muzan

- I have to end this- Tanjiro stated

- Tomorrow I'll tell him what I'm going to do, he needs to know- they thought simultaneously
