Natalies pov:

After giving Scarlett the schools phone number she tells them what we planned and next thing I know we're standing outside her car.

"I'm not sure this is a good idea" I mumble

"What isn't a good idea?" Scarlett asks

"You kidnapping me!" I chuckle. She laughs too and unlocks the car. We both get in and she drives somewhere that I'm guessing is her home.

"Here we are!" she says turning the car off and getting out. I follow her as we walk to a modern looking house. It's large but at the same time not ridiculously large.

"Welcome to my humble abode" Scarlett says unlocking the door and opening it wide.

"It's beautiful" I tell her sliding my shoes off and putting my bag on a small table with other bags on top.

"Make yourself at home just don't move the brown bear armchair over there. Rose won't let anyone touch it" Scarlett chuckles flopping onto the grey sofa. I sit next to her and fiddle with my fingers not knowing what to do.

"Who's Rose?" I ask her curiously

"Rose is my daughter. She's five and has the attitude of a 15 year old but I love her to pieces" Scarlett says opening her phone and scrolling for a second before showing me a photo of Rose.
"She's adorable" I tell her and Scarlett nods closing her phone.
"But we're talking about you not her! What do you want to do Natalie?" Scarlett asks me. I shrug looking at the time, 2:20pm. I have another hour and ten minutes of school left before I can think about going back to Reginas.

"I don't mind" I mumble looking at a flower pot that I want to draw

"What are you thinking?" she asks and I can feel her looking at me

"Drawing that pot" I say pointing to the flower pot. She smiles and lifts it from the mantle piece and puts it on the coffee table.
"Do you need paper and pens?" she asks and I can't help but smile widely.
"No!" I say jumping up and running to get my bag with all my things. I rush back to the living room and rip two pieces of paper, one for me one for Scarlett.
"Here you can draw it too" I tell her and she takes the paper before sitting on the floor next to me resting on the coffee table.

Cut to an hour later and Scarlett is scrolling through her phone whining about me not being done yet.

"I'm almost done" I say whilst concentrating on shading the last few flower petals.

"And... done!" I say showing her my picutre. Her jaw drops and she takes it from me.

"Okay but how!?" Scarlett asks me, her jaw still on the floor. I chuckle nervously.

"I just have always drawn" I say to her and she just smiles at me.

"It's amazing sweetie" she says and my belly errupts into butterflys when she says it.
"Merci" (Thank you)

"Look at the time! Have you eaten lunch?" Scarlett asks bringing my attention to the clock. It's now half three!

"I'm so sorry I didn't mean to stay here so long" I tell her feeling bad for taking up all her afternoon.
"Don't be sweetie! I've loved drawing. You don't have to go now if you don't want to. I'm making Rose a mac n cheese for tea tonight if you want to stay?" she asks.

"You don't mind?" I ask

"Of course not! You'll need to text your carer though. Just to check" she tells me and I nod.

Scarlett's pov:
Natalie is staying for tea! I'm so glad that she is because when I mentioned the time she looked disappointed and I can tell she's getting more comfortable because she's stopping biting and picking at her fingers and hands. As soon as she started drawing I could tell she relaxed which is amazing because she is such a good drawer!

I need to fetch Rose from school in about ten minutes and I don't want to leave Natalie by herself but at the same time I don't want her to be thrown in the deep end when meeting Rose. I want her to be comfortable and not feel trapped like she would in a car. I'm not sure what to do.

"Natalie!?" I call through as I've gone to the kitchen and she's stayed in the living room.

"À venir!" she shouts before walking into the room. I smile at her and she looks confused.

"I need to fetch Rose from school now. Would you like to come or stay here?" I ask her.
"I don't want to be a bother so I can go home if you want?" she asks

"No it's okay you can stay I just want you to be comfortable" I tell her and she smiles.

"Can I come in the car?" she asks and I nod.
"Of course! We need to go now so go put your shoes on" I tell her and she nods going to put her shoes on.

I'm driving to Rose's school and Natalie is humming a song that sounds a lot like 'Stuck in a moment' from Sing 2. I listen to her humming it and realise that it is the song and then I think about if she knows it's me. She probably does and just hasn't said anything.... but she might not know me.

"Scarlett?" Natalie asks. I love the way she says my name, it's so cute because of her little accent

"Yeah?" I ask her looking at her quickly before looking back at the road.

"Do you know French?" she asks

"Not really. I know a few things but not well" I tell her and her eyes start sparkling.
"What are you thinking?" I ask her

"What do you know?! I want to rate it" she tells me

"Okay you can't be mean. You're fluent and i'm not" I tell her making her giggle.

"Okay just tell me!" she says as I park the car outside Rose's school. We have five minutes to spare which is enough to be mocked by Natalie.

"I know Bonjour. Au revoir. Pomme de terre" I tell her. She bursts into laughter once I say the last word, potato, and I can't help but laugh too.

"C'était si mauvais ! Mes amis disent toujours des mots dans leur langue et nous devons deviner ce qu'ils disent mais votre français était pire qu'eux!" Natalie says whilst giggling. I smile and chuckle too not wanting to ruin the moment by saying I didn't understand any of that. "I have to get Rose now. Do you want to stay in the car?" I ask her and she nods. "Okay i'll be five minutes, maybe ten depending on if the teacher needs to talk to me I tell her getting out the car to fetch Rose.
