I was now alone in the orphange's boy's washroom, grumbling to myself as I washed the food off my mouth and the sides of my cheeks. Somehow bread crumbs have also gotten in my hair so I had to brush all the crumbs out, I didn't have to take a shower. I was also currently wearing a new white uniform, it was a size larger than the usual size I wore in the orphanage, so the shirt looked loose on me and so did the pants. I looked stupid.
This was all Emma's fault.
During breakfast she had taken what I said seriously about her spoon feeding me, when I had told her to wait, to explain to her that I didn't actually mean it, I had tried to push my chair away from the table, only for my hand to land on the edge of my plate, causing it to flip over on the table and onto m-yeah, maybe it was kinda my fault? I guess? yes. yes it was.
I looked up at myself in the mirror after I had dried my face with a rag. I gave myself a disappointed look in the mirror. Stupid. I looked absolutely stupid.
I then saw the numbers on my neck, the numbers I had always had on my neck for pretty much my whole life. All the other orphans also had a set of five numbers on the side of their neck, all numbers ending with nine and four.
91194. Those were my numbers.
I reached my hand up and over my neck where my numbers were, about to touch it when I heard a knock on the boy's washroom door and walked over to it since I was already done using the washroom anyways and even if I wasn't I still have to let whatever boy was out there in because this wasn't a one-person-only washroom. There was a huge tub for all the boys to go in together and multiple urinals. Still, I had always ended up locking the door to the Boy's washroom...this was the only place I could really be alone without anyone in my personal space. A place where I can actually think sadly.
I unlocked and opened the door to see it was Ray. I watched as Ray's eyes had widen a bit as he looked me up and down confused before looking straight at me with his usual poker face, "You look stupid" he said quietly to which I only blinked at him.
"Thanks for noticing" I said sarcastically before moving out of the way and walking away, what I didn't expect was for Ray to actually follow me. This made me really confused.
"Um..." was all I could muster out as I looked over at him, he looked over at me with a raised brow before realizing.
"Right, Mom wanted me to come get you and being you into the testing room for our daily tests, everyone has been waiting for you for the past ten minutes" Ray explained quietly to me before looking straight forward once again.
I quickly looked down to the groud as I walked, now feeling guilty. Everyone had been waiting for me for the past ten minutes? Shit. If I knew they were waiting I would have gotten done faster....damn it!
When we had finally arrived to the testing room door, Ray opened the door without a word and walked in with me trailing behind him. The room was loud, filled with cheery laughter and conversation. This made my feeling of guilt go down and the feeling of relief to take place when I noticed that no one minded that I had kept them all waiting.
"Y/n!" I heard Emma suddenly shout as she suddenly ran over to me, making me jump back a bit from her sudden appearance, "Y/n I'm sorry! I didn't mean for this to happen-" before Emma could go on any further though, I quickly interrupted her.
"Don't worry Emma, it was only an accident, besides, it was really my fault anyways" I quickly reassured to which Emma only looked at me with a frown before looking to the side.
"I still feel bad though, if only I listened to you better then maybe this wouldn't have had happened..." Emma said quietly to which I couldn't help but smile a bit at that.
