We both got out of the car and came upon the entrance to the mall. I didn't know what time it was or how late. The mall was closed and no cars were to be seen anywhere. I was losing hope, it was… closed… Where are they?... I got out of my thoughts when I heard a loud crash from beside me. I turned and saw a broken window. Bob had his sleeve wrapped around his knuckles. "WHAT THE HELL BOB!?" Bob peaked his head through the broken window and looked around. "Huh… No alarms…"
Bob went through and gestured to me to come in. "What, NO! This is trespassing!""Ya wanna find em or not? I mean, you are wanted anyway so what's the difference…" Bob whispered to me loudly. I rolled my eyes and made my way through. Every light was off in the mall and it was really quiet. We were around in the food court. "Yes! They have Wendy's!" Bob stumbled to the counter and climbed over it. I sighed in disappointment. I walked around wondering where they could be. I walked into this small little shop that was kind of like Candy Club. They loved candy so this is the first place I thought of. Everything in the shop was spotless. I went behind the counter of the candy shop and looked at all the papers. There was something they liked to do here. If a kid wanted candy and they had a free coupon, they would sign their name on a piece of paper and get all the free candy they wanted. It's a little stupid ya… but it made more people come.
I found a file in a drawer, it was named 'Candy file'. I opened it which had countless papers with children's names on it. I heard chewing from behind me but I knew it was Bob. I glanced at him with a disturbed stare. He had a Wendy's hamburger in one hand, and a large candy bar in the other. He was looking at me with an innocent face as he munched on the food. He swallowed a bite he took, "What?...""...Nothing.." I turned back to flip through the papers. Their names have to be in here…
It took a minute for me to look through every name. Bob grabbed one of the papers after finishing the hamburger and read it. "Uh… This it?" Bob held the paper in my face and I grabbed it. I looked all over the list till I came across the bottom. Every name on there was normal, but the only two that stood out were the words 'SPOOKY MONTH'. The words were very big and scribbled like children wrote it. "Yes… it's them!.. They were here!" I jumped up and started thinking where they could have gone. I saw Bob stick the candy bar in his back pocket and looked like he was intrigued by something. I saw him run out of the shop and into a different one. He ran in a toy shop. He is such a child- wait… they could have gone there… I followed Bob in and looked around. Toys were everywhere; it looked like a dream for kids. I saw one shelf that had nothing but Happy Fella dolls… I miss them…
I suddenly jumped to the sound of a train. I followed the noise to see Bob on a little train like he was riding it. "Bob get off, you're going to break it.."
"Oh shut it, I'm not 'goin to break i-" He stopped speaking when he heard a loud thud from under him. Bob soon fell to the ground with the train breaking into pieces. "Mhm…" I smarted off and kept looking around to see if anything gave a clue. Bob got up and grabbed a toy off a shelf. "Huh… This looks oddly familiar.." I saw he was holding a doll that looked pretty old. It was like one of those antique glass dolls. I knew exactly why he thought it looked familiar to him, I had dolls like that when I was little. I'd bring them everywhere I went, especially to his house. Bob threw the doll thinking it was boring and walked off to look at other toys. The doll fell on the floor with a glassy thud.
I ran to it and picked it up to see the face all cracked. I held it in my arms then started to hug it. I felt like it gave me nostalgia, and I liked it. I set it back on the shelf that it was on and smiled. I went to go find Bob because I didn't think there was anything there to look for when I saw him standing in front of the Happy Fella shelf.
He held a Happy fella in his hands and was just staring at it. "Hello?.." Bob had a worried face and it looked like he was talking to the doll. I was about to question what he was doing when he spoke to it again.
