[She leads everyone through two large doors and into the Great Hall, where there are four long tables with thousands of students and floating candles. The roof appears to be the sky.]
Everyone smiles as they remember their first reaction to the Great hall.
"It's not real, the ceiling. It's just bewitched to look like the night sky. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History." Hemione says as Lily smiles at her.
[McGonagall leads the first years to the front where the Sorting Hat lies on the stool.]
"I remember having a whole nervous breakdown while sorting," Lily says, smiling.
"Will you wait along here, please? Now, before we begin, Professor Dumbledore would like to say a few words." McGonagall says as Dumbledore rises from his seat.
"I have a few start-of-term notices I wish to announce. The first years please note that the dark forest is strictly forbidden to all students. Also, our caretaker, Mr. Filch [shows a ragged old man, called Mr. Argus Filch, with his cat with red eyes, called Mrs. Norris.] has asked me to remind you that the 3rd-floor corridor on the right-hand side is out of bounds to everyone who does not wish to die a most painful death. Thank you. [He sits back down]" Dumbledore says as all the students look terrified. Lily had a look of pure disgust on her face.
"Are you crazy?!" Molly Weasley screams as Arthur forces her to sit back down.
"That's not something you say to a bunch of curious first years, Professor Dumbledore," Narcissa says coldly with a harsh glare.
"When I call your name, you will come forth, I shall place the sorting hat on your head, and you will be sorted into your houses. Hermione Granger." McGonagall calls as Hermione whispers comforting words to herself. Lily gives Hermione a small smile.
"Mental that one, I'm telling you" Ron comments as Lily smacks him across the head.
"Good job Lilian," Molly Weasley says as Ron apologizes to Hermione.
"Ah, right then...hmm...right. Okay...Gryffindor!!" The sorting hat screamed as Hermione jumped off the stool with a huge smile on her face.
Everyone cheers for Hermione as she blushes.
"Draco Malfoy" McGonagall calls out as Draco walks over to the stool, glancing at Lily who smiles at him.
"SLYTHERIN" The sorting hat screams as Draco smiles and walks over to the Slytherin table.
"Lucien Malfoy" McGonagall calls out as Lucien walks up to the hat and gets sorted to Slytherin, unsurprisingly.
"There isn't a witch or wizard who went bad who wasn't in Slytherin," Ron says as Lily rolls her eyes, not ready to deal with Ron's bullshit.
Half of the people do the same, used to past Ron's comments.
McGonagall calls out Ron's name as he gets sorted into Gryffindor.
"Harry Potter" McGonagall calls as the great hall goes silent. Harry walks up to the sorting hat slowly.
"Hmm...difficult, very difficult. Plenty of courage I see, not a bad mind, either. There's talent, oh yes, and a thirst to prove yourself. But where to put you?" The sorting hat asks as Harry whispers 'Not Slytherin' multiple times.
"And why not?" A random Slytherin asks
"Well, all the Slytherins I had met at that point were extremely rude so I didn't want to get sorted with them" Harry answers, not caring much.
"Not Slytherin, eh? Are you sure? You could be great, you know. It's all here in your head. And Slytherin will help you on the way to greatness! There's no doubt about that. No?" The sorting hat asks again as harry mutters 'Not Slytherin, Anything but Slytherin'.
"Well, if you're sure... better be... GRYFFINDOR!!" Harry gets up with a huge smile on his face as the Gryffindor table cheers loudly.
Lily and James cheer loudly, proud of their son.
"Lillian Potter" McGonagall calls out as Lily walks over to the sorting hat, her head held high.
"Hmm... You're just like your brother but more powerful.. more ambitious... You would fit perfectly into both Gryffindor and Slytherin... But Slytherin would help you control and use your powers more... SLYTHERIN" The Sorting as Lily walks over with a smile on her face, giving a bright smile to harry who gave a small smile to Lily.
The Slytherin table cheers loudly as Lily sits down next to Draco.
Lily and James cheer for their daughter, hugging her.
