chapter two | a chaotic aunt and a van full of monkeys
GENISIS WOKE UP HUMMING A BACH CONCERTO. Which was a... Different occurrence than usual. And also with Alden whisper hissing to Ann.
"I'm gonna wake her-"
"Don't you dare!"
"A bit late for that." Another voice added. "Seems like our first and only Beyonces' awake."
Edward 'Ed' Grant Taylor, the classic guy next door, is decent at football, cooking, and fending off their dog, McKenna Marie Taylor. The dad who was always there for the school events, and football games, also somehow managed to get all the money needed while
Genesis yawned, stretching as much as the car would allow. "You're right dad... And both of you should stop watching Frozen."
Ann seemed insulted, it wasn't enough she was dragged along to the trip, and huffed, head plopping on the edge of the window. And Genesis recognized uncomfortably that she was cooped up in the middle, between Alden reading 'How To Teach The Theory Of Relativity To Your Dog,' every now and then telling something to McKenna, who stared at Alden blankly, and Ann, who's chin was plopped on the edge of the window.
"Um... Why did I end up in the middle?" Genesis asked, feeling a bit betrayed, what was the point of having an ancient, buttery yellow, vintage van with six seats if you get the middle seat?
"Cause Ann got left, and I got the right," Alden explained, looking at her as of she were dumb.
"And...I couldn't get shotgun." Genesis started at him with an eyebrow raised.
Her father coughed. "Actually... It's occupied."
Genesis leaned over, and the seat in front looked as empty as Ann's will to not act moody. In other words, empty but a single piece of paper.
"Why are we slowing down?" Alden suddenly asked, Genesis only had enough time to read the sign announcing they'd gotten to 'Grove Weller.' Even Ann and McKenna looked up, seemingly suspicious.
Edward though, looked perfectly at ease. "Relax... There's nothing to worry-"
But Alden squeaked in fear, dropping his book. Ann looked terrified by his action, Alden never dropped books.
"It's... It's not her is it?" He squeaked in fear. "No... No... No... It can't-"
But a woman outside wearing a yellow poncho waved at the car enthusiastically, a blue carry-on at her feet. Ann gasped, her mood lifting. Alden though, looked like he wanted to hide.
A blonde woman grinned at them Genesis smiled back. "Whadid I miss snitches?" She asked, Ann cheering and Alden groaning.
Harley Taylor. Edward's younger sister, chaotic aunt, broke writer, worked at a cafe for a living.
