POV Craig

Me and the rest of my entire grade are sitting down in chairs inside of our school's auditorium, directly on the stage. The lights are shining  little too bright for my liking, nearly blinding me. I'm sitting a few seats away from Tweak, since our last names are close in alphabetical order.

After the principal, vice principle and guidance counselor all gave their speeches on how proud of us they were, they started handing out diplomas in alphabetical order of last names.

Of course, since my stupid last name is so late in the alphabet I have to sit here for ages, just to be handed this dumb piece of paper, that for some reason has so much value.

We're only on the K last names, and I'm starting to lose my mind a little bit. It feels like a whole day has past but it's probably been less than 30 minutes. I look over to Tweek to try and catch his attention, but he is sort of just sitting and twitching a lot more than normal, staring at the front of the stage.

He's probably getting super anxious. I know he doesn't like when all the attention is on him, he starts to get stressed. He had told me a lot in couple's therapy, when we broke up that one time in 4th grade. Ever since then we have been pretty open with each other.

It's starting to get closer to my turn to get my diploma, and I look over, and Tweek is freaking out even more. He keeps tugging on his shirt and fidgeting with his hair, pulling and twirling it in all sorts of ways. My poor boyfriend is having an anxiety attack, and I'm unable to get his attention, and try to calm him down.

The person sitting next to me on my left must have had their name called just right now because they stood up and are walking to the middle of the stage. They grab their diploma and starts to walk back to their seat when my name is called.

"Craig Tucker." The principle announces to the whole audience. I hear a couple whoops and claps when my name is announced, but nothing loud enough to disrupt my ear drums, like when some of the popular kids went up. But then I hear Tweek scream the loudest, and clap as loud as possible, which is the only yell that matters to me in this whole building. Even if he is freaking out he put in all of his effort to congratulate me.

As soon as my name is called, I stand up, slightly adjusting my gown as I walk down. My eyes are hit even harder with the bursting light beams and I squint slightly. The vice principle hands me my diploma, and my principle, vice principle, and guidance counselor all give me big warm smiles. That's surprising considering how many times I've flipped each of them off.

I smile back at them, walk back up and sit down as they announce the name of the person on my right. I look down at my diploma and feel a little more confident than before. I can't believe I made it through high school without being held back. What an anomaly. This is truly such an achievement.

I look over and see Tweek impatiently dreading his soon demise of having to go up in front of all the students and parents. He's probably scared no one will clap for him, or he will trip, or he will just somehow mess it up even worse. I'll make sure to do as much as possible.

The person next to Tweek finally sits down and we hear Tweek's name called out by the principle now.

"Tweek Tweak." The principle announces, and there are some claps. I yell as loudly as possible to show my support, and clap as noisy and booming as I could, showing just how proud of him I am.

He stands up pretty shaky, probably overstimulated. He walks weakly over to the adults and they hand his diplomas with a huge tremendous smile. He has great grades and a fantastic clean permanent record so no wonder.
