'I love you'

I huff slightly as I pry my eyes open, startled by the welcoming sunlight. I roll over to my side and begin to reach my arms out for my girlfriend's sleeping figure. To my disappointment, the space is empty and cold. I prop myself up by my scuffed elbows in an attempt to look around. Distance racket fills my ears and I lay back down into my previous position. My head falls into a comfortable place, my nose subconsciously sniffing the shirt surrounding me. It smells of Ellie. Woody soaps and slight body odour incase the cotton fabric. I smile to myself.

"Good morning gorgeous." Ellie welcomes me as she begins to wrap her toned arms around my body. I lean into her embrace. Her soft but chapped lips peck my neck lightly. "I didn't think you would be up so early." Ellie confessed, shuffling my body so I was laying on top of her side. "Neither." I grumbled. She chuckled lightly before placing an elongated kiss on my forehead. I breathed out. "This is nice." I say contently.

"I'm very aware." She confesses, holding me tighter. Ellie and I hadn't had a quiet morning in quite a while. Either of us either had some sort of job whether it was a supply run, an infected containment, or any other thing around Jackson. It was nice to just be in each other's arms, listening to the birds chirp while we let time slip away. Ellie's large hand rested on my lower hip, gently massaging it with half of her hand, the other caressing my face.

"Kiss me." I spoke.

"No need to tell me twice." She laughed, connecting her lips with mine. The kiss was filled with contentment with a little need from Ellie's end. Although Ellie's lips appeared plump when we kissed they fit perfectly and easily making the kiss a whole lot better. I pulled away. The smile on her face made me laugh. "What?" She asked defensively, admiring my face. She scanned my freckles and my nose. The way my full eyelashes naturally batted and how the tone of my skin matched every feature. "You're cute when you go all soft on me."

She grinned, rolling her green eyes. "You're just cute in general." She cooed. I chuckled and kissed her once more. "I love you, (y/n)" Ellie confessed, gulping as she talked. I stay quiet studying her expression. "I love you Ellie," I replied. "with everything." She couldn't help but kiss me deeper this time. We lay like this for the next 20 or so minutes before heading out to do afternoon jobs and out to dinner with friends. I Love Ellie more than words could say and knowing she felt the same made me a whole lot more in love with her.
