"If we take our fathers' places, I will destroy you," he said now. She walked back to him and stood in front of him."Good luck" she said, glaring at him "you're going to need it". With these words she disappeared around the corner.
----
She sighed and knelt on the grass. Her eyes were fixed on her mother's gravestone. It was already dark outside, which is why she couldn't see it well, but even if she didn't come here often, she knew exactly what it looked like.
She smiled slightly "hey mom". She paused for a moment as if waiting for an answer from her mother. "It's been a while...I should come here more often but I'm always scared to come here...I don't know why" again the girl paused. "I miss you very much mom" she said in a lower voice. "Dad misses you too. Even if he comes here even less than I do, he misses you very much". She closed her eyes and felt a tear run down her cheek. "It would be so much easier if you were still with us" the girl sobbed. "It's not easy being a woman in this industry...I admire you mom, how did you stand it?"
She sat for a while by her mother's grave, which was behind Y/n and her father's villa. She wiped her tears and stood up "I'll come visit you more often Mom. See you soon" she smiled. That smile was a real smile. She took a deep breath and then went back inside. She looked around for her father and recognized him at a table with guests. Even if she didn't feel like it anymore, she now had to be seen by the guests again. She couldn't hide all the time.
"When is your daughter getting married? She is really beautiful," said one man. Y/n's father smiled slightly. He almost never did that, but when his daughter was praised, he was satisfied.
"She marries when and whoever she wants," her father then said firmly. "See that you find a man, little one. You are lost in this world if you don't have a man," he said. Y/n gritted her teeth. She couldn't be unfriendly. "My daughter doesn't need anyone. She gets along fine on her own. Please excuse us," her father said simply and then left the table with his daughter.
"Thanks dad" she said and her father smiled "don't let that scare you honey. You're strong alone too."She smiled at her father "I'm not alone dad. I have you". Her father put his hand on her back again "I'm proud of you" after a short pause he then said "and mom is proud of you too".
Y/n flinched when she felt a hand on her arm. She turned and saw Jongseong."What do you want?" she asked. Something about his facial expression was different than usual. "I think one of the guests has a gun," he said, glancing in the direction of a man standing off to the side with a glass of wine. "What nonsense are you talking about? And don't touch me" she removed his hand from her arm. "Stop being such a bitch and believe me" he said. "Are you calling my daughter a bitch?" asked the girl's father and looked at his rivals son menacingly. "It's okay dad, I'll deal with him," the girl reassured her father. "You see ghosts. Go to your family and leave me alone," the girl said to Jongseong and walked away.
Even if she didn't believe this idiot, she was now watching the suspected man very closely.
As she watched her father walk up to the man and talk to him, she got a little nervous. She didn't know this man and somehow he behaved very suspiciously. She didn't know what to do. Should she warn her father? She decided to just keep an eye on the man.
The two talked like normal people. The man had both hands in the girl's line of sight, which allowed her to relax a little.
She winced when she felt a hand on her back again. One of her father's employees joined her. She didn't want him to touch her and took a step away from him. She didn't like it at all that he involved her in a conversation, because that way she couldn't see her father and the man well anymore.
"You look lovely today, by the way," said the man, who was older than her. She just nodded absently and wasn't really listening to him. Her eyes were on the man's hands, which were now suspicious. He had one hand slowly placed behind his back. Y/n got nervous again and wanted to go to her father to warn him. The man who was talking to her grabbed her arm and stopped her from leaving. "It's rude to leave like that, sweetie," the man said. "I'm sorry but please don't call me that," she said, removing his hand.
She looked startled in her father's direction when she heard a shot and screams followed. People panicked. Everyone ran to the doors and the girl had trouble walking against the crowd. She had to go to her father. When she was finally able to break through the crowd, she saw blood on the floor.
She ran to her father who was sitting on the floor."Father!" she said and hurried to him. "I wanted to warn you but at first I didn't believe he had a gun! I'm so sorry!" she said out of breath. "I thought he shot you," she sobbed. "I'm not a beginner honey" smiled her father, who was able to react quickly and retrieve the gun before he was hurt. The perpetrator lay on the ground with a shot arm."This guy is a complete novice," the girl grinned."How did you know he had a gun?" her father asked. "Jongseong..." the girl said and looked around. "Jongseong," she then said again.
She jumped up and quickly ran outside, where for some reason unknown to her, police cars were already pulling up. When she saw Jongseong, she ran to him."You asshole" she said. He looked at the girl confused "what have I done again?". She looked at him angrily "that was a man from your father!" she said. Jongseong made an indignant noise, "I warned you because I was worried something might happen. I saw the gun in his waistband! You didn't believe me and now it's my fault?"
"Fuck" said the girl and angrily kicked a garbage can."Get yourself under control" Jongseong said, walking past her.
----"Are you all right?" asked her father's employee, who had spoken to her earlier. Now the girl also remembered his name. Caleb.
The girl just nodded. Again he put his hand on her back. She wasn't comfortable with it. She hated that she constantly had to endure the touches of people she didn't even know.
"Please don't touch me" she said. "I just want to help," he said. She shook her head "I don't want to be touched". She breathed a sigh of relief when Caleb removed his hand from her back. The only touch she wanted right now was her father's hug to calm her. But she had no idea where her father was.
The police had already sent some guests home. Y/n hadn't noticed much of all this. The girl was totally exhausted. She just wanted to go to her bed. "Let's go" said her father's voice. The girl nodded in relief.
"Rest," her father advised her once they were back in the house. The girl wished her father good night and then went up the stairs to her room. After a shower, she went to bed in her pajamas. She pulled the covers over her face and closed her eyes. It was always very stressful when guests came to visit.
