-first night back-

-Lauren's pov-
Stepping into the great hall the familiar comforting smell of Hogwarts welcomed me back. Me and Maggy separated from Maya and Alicia when we went to our tables ready for the sorting to be over so we could finally eat the welcome back meal the elves had prepared for our school.
'Maggy look there's a new teacher up there' I said gaining her attention.
'Where?' She asked.
' up there by the table' I replied laughing at her blindness.
'WHERE?' She asked again but this time louder gaining weird looks form our fellow housemates including roger Davies, the lucky boy mags has a crush on, and Penelope Clearwater a stuck up prefect who shushed us, telling us that the sorting was about to begin.
'Up there by snape the guy with the head scarf on' I finally replied to maggy directing her to where I was looking. She finally saw him and said he wouldn't last longer than the others. No one did. The defence against the dark arts teaching position was cursed, no teacher lasted more that a year.
The doors finally slammed open, silencing the hall. Heads quickly turned eager to get a look at the first years entering. There was a mop of bleach blonde greasy hair which I was guessing was mr Malfoys son , then there was a mop of ginger hair who I guessed was related to the weasley family as he looked very familiar.
Once they reached the front of the hall names were soon called and people were placed into there rightful houses. A number of students were in huffelpuff, the same as Slytherin with Malfoy in it , gryffindor had lots as well also including the new weasley brother and finally ravenclaw welcomed many including Maggys younger brother Will, who is a prick when he wants to be. But there was one name that silenced the entire hall Harry Potter. The boy who lived. He nervously walked up to the stool waiting for the decision of the sorting hat to determine his next seven years. The sorting hat was mumbling things while Harry made faces at them most likely disagreeing with them until it roared 'GRYFFINDOR'.
The whole of gryffindor screamed with joy and slowly let the boy get to his seat after being congratulated by nearly everyone around him.

Mayas sister was next ,Katie,and like maya she was also in gryffindor. Even though she's not in our house me and maggy congratulated her by screaming her name causing people to look at us. Not long after the sorting was finished, dumbledore said his beginning of term speech which went on for ages, and we were finally able to start the feast.
During the feast Maggy kept poking me saying that there were a certain group of boys from gryffindor staring at us or specifically me.

"Will you stop it"
"Stop what" I asked Percy , wondering what I had done now.
" all of you are staring a Lauren" he said "it's weird . Oh great and now they've caught you staring"
"We are only trying to figure out how pucey got a bird like her" Liam said " she's way out of his league"
Harrison agreed "you can say that again"
We finished the conversation after that and moved on to random topics. That was until we all got curious to why Lauren sneaked out of the hall , shortly followed by Adrian.
