A New Place ~ An Old Friend

Her heart was practically beating out of her chest. Moving is scary, but what she is about to encounter will be even worse.

Harumi Jade, a 21 year old woman, has a degree in law, so yes she is a lawyer. Perhaps her new roommates should be scared of her.

Harumi knocked on the door, a few of her bags in hand, the rest of her stuff in the U-Haul outside. The door is answered by someone who she never thought she'd see again. Lloyd Montgomery Garmadon.

"Lloyd?"

"Harumi? What are you doing here, have you come to continue denying what you said?"

"What, No! First, I live here now. Second, I never said those things!"

"Sure, and what do you mean by 'you live here'?"

"I'm the new roommate." Harumi stated in a matter-of-fact way.

"Great." Lloyd mumbled. "Well, come In I guess." Lloyd moved out of the doorway.

"Thanks." Harumi ducked her head as she walked past him. It was going to be a little awkward but it seems to be more hostile than awkward.

"Hey guys, the new roommate is here!" Lloyd yelled, while closing the door.

The other 4 boys ran out of their room, like when you go to camp and you take the bus, they ran out like a bunch of 5th graders.

"Who is it..." Kai's voice faded out when he saw Harumi.

"Hi, I'm sure you all remember me." Harumi waved confidently. As if she didn't want to go and die in a hole.

"You." Jay narrowed his eyes.

"Yes, me. Well.. I'm just gonna go get my stuff." Harumi pointed to the door and left. "Oh boy.." Harumi dragged her hand down her face and sighed. "This is going to be a long.. Who knows how long."

While Harumi is coming in and out of the apartment, moving her stuff. The 5 boys are in the kitchen talking.

"You think she came here on purpose?" Jay asked Lloyd

"No."

"Why is that?" Kai asked. "You guys were best friends, and then she said some.. Bad stuff and now she lives with us. You don't think she did that on purpose."

"Well for one, herold apartment building is being shut down. Second she works at 'Mistake's law and order office' which is barely even a few miles away from here, so she moved closer to work. And last, all the other apartments are full and this is the closest she gets to work. That's why I don't think she came here on purpose."

"That does make sense." Zane added to Lloyd's logic.

"Ok, I guess that checks out." Kai sighed.

"I'm done." Harumi said she didn't mean to say it so loudly because she covered her mouth afterwards, and headed to her room.

"That was odd." Cole commented.

"Eh." Lloyd shrugged and headed to his room as it was not almost 10 pm.

Harumi was texting her best friend, Skylor Chen.

Harumi: I can't believe this is happening!

Sky: Hey, I'm sure now you can tell him the real story. Right?

Harumi: I guess...

Sky: tell him how that bitch!

Harumi heard a knock at the door before she could see the rest of the message. "Who is it?"

"It's Jay."

Harumi cocked her head, but opened her door for Jay. "Yes?" Harumi hoped she did not sound annoyed.

"Did you have dinner?"

"Hmm? Oh, no. It's fine, I'm not hungry anyways." Harumi flashed a weak smile.

"Ok, well there's food in the fridge if you want any." Jay started to walk away.

"Why are you being so nice to me?"

Jay stopped and turned on his heel. "I may not like you, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to be a decent human."

"Thanks." Harumi shut her door as she and Jay waved good night.

Harumi changed out of her day clothes into a pale green hoodie, and some gray sweatpants. Harumi sighed as she picked up her files on her latest case. "Let's see.... Man kills wife, they are divorced. Had kids together.... But he claims he didn't do it. Well.. so far everything points to him or.... Her sister." Harumi took a sip of the water from her bedside table. "Let's see how this goes, I'll call Pix and have her interogate the two." Harumi said to herself, turned off the lights and headed to sleep.
