Something Sinister • Ethan Landry

PART VIII

Mallory Macher stood outside the front door of Tara, Sam and Quinn's place, knowing she was going to have to face a probably cocky Ethan but she could sit away from him, she could avoid him, right?

Lifting her hand while exhale she knocked three times, smiling while waiting for one of the girls to unlock the door, looking down a little more than eye level expecting Tara to invite her in, after all Tara had initiated the whole meet up, only when the door opened she was staring at someone's chest. Ethan god damn Landry's chest.

Lifting her eyes she spoke a quick, "hey" while he moved to the side to let her in. Mindy had been with Anika so she had come before Mallory.

Mallory sat herself down on the sofa across from Mindy, Anika and Chad. Quinn Tara and Sam had all been standing, the two sisters whispering some sort of plan to each other, not that Mallory paid much attention when Ethan sat himself down beside her yet again. That had been three times in less than twenty four hours he'd done that, sat so close, now knowing there had been a possibility the kiss had meant something to Mallory.

"Okay" Sam pulled a dining chair out, sitting herself comfortably on it, "we need to stay together, so we were thinking" she gave Tara a look, "that everyone should stay here"

Silent looks travelled around the room, Mallory had ensured not to look to her left.

"I think it's a great idea" Mallory smiled at the taller of the two sisters who had spoken, "but I don't really think we are all going to be able to sleep here comfortably" she took a glance around the room to see just how many of them had been sat around, then looking to Mindy who was supposed to stay with Anika an idea coming to mind, "but you are onto something, I just think it might be a smarter play to separate ourselves, still in groups of course only not all of us in one little apartment - no offence of course" she watched as Tara smiled, "that's basically asking ghostface to attack us, we would be putting ourselves in the prime position, think of every scary movie you've ever seen, think of last year, when did Amber and Richie attack?"

Chad nodded, "when we were all together at that house party"

"Exactly"

Ethan leaned forward, "so you're saying we should go with Sam's idea, just in two separate places?" She again thought of Mindy.

"Three" Mallory stood up looking around, "Sam, Tara and Quinn" she had known of course that this had been normal for the girls, "Mindy and Anika" she winked at her friend who finally caught on to what she was doing "then myself, Chad and.." Ethan, fuck, could she go back on the idea?

"Ethan?" Quinn spoke up.

"Yes" Mallory smiled, "sure this shit is terrifying but we can't stop the two lovebirds spending time together, right?" She looked to Chad for a nod of agreement.

"But what if Anika is the killer?" Chad had a rebuttal instead, turning to Anika, "no offence of course, she's my sister, I need to make sure she's safe"

Anika being the sweetheart she was simply nodded at that.

"Well if I end up dead and Anika doesn't, we have our killer" Mindy smiled giving Anika a quick kiss, "trust me guys I'm happy to risk my life for a night with Anika" Chad let out a laugh leaning forward to fist bump his twin who was hesitant at first but later gave in. It was unlike Mindy, being the horror movie fanatic that she was but she really had trusted Anika, probably stupidly of course but if she had been the killer would she really attack Mindy knowing it would give her away?

"Okay, it's sorted, Anika you stay at Mindy and Mals place and Mal you stay with Chad and Ethan?" Mallory nodded at Sam's confirmation wondering just what she'd gotten herself into in order to help her friend share a normal night with her girlfriend.
