I wanted to write some chirus so I did-

"Hey, China?" China turned his head towards the boy sitting next to him.

"Yes?"

It was his fourth time visiting the snowy mountains that his friend called home, and he was getting pretty attached to the timid Russian dragon.

"Umm- I was h-hoping you could teach me how to dance..." Russia stuttered, a small blush forming on his cheeks, unconsciously burying his face further into his scarf.

China raised an eyebrow. "What kind of dance?"

Russia thought for a moment. "I think it's called slow dance."

"Did you learn that from one of the books I gave you?" Russia nodded in response. "It was really sweet in the book so I want to learn. I... want to be ready if it happens for real."

"So you want to impress your future prince charming?" China teased. He witnessed Russia's blush deepen.

"...."

"哈哈!(Ha ha) I'm joking, and sure I'll teach you." China said with a small simile.

Hearing that made Russia perk up and hug him in excitement. "Thank you China!" The Chinese boy's face heated up as he felt Russia's arms around his neck.

China patted the Russian's back. "Okay okay let go, I can't teach you when you're squeezing the life out of me." He sighed in relief when he felt his friend pull back, but at the same time missed the warmth.

The Chinese dragon pulled Russia up from their seating position on the porch and dragged him out to the snowy field, snow crunching underneath their boots.

China pulled the Russian boy close and put his hand on Russia's waist feeling him shiver slightly. "You can lead next time I come over, the goal today is just to make sure you don't trip." Russia huffed but said nothing, instinctively setting his hand on China's shoulder, with the other intertwined with his partner's.

"We'll start by taking a step out with our right foot, then we step back in." Russia followed China's instructions precisely, locking his gaze on his feet to make sure he didn't accidentally step on China's foot.

"Hey relax, dancing is supposed to be fun isn't it? It would be better for both of us if you're not so tense." The moment those words left his mouth Russia proceeded to step on his foot. "Ah- I'm so sorry China!" "It's alright..."

This continued for a while, the Russian even more nervous than before. He was on the brink of tearing up, face darkening and eyes becoming glossy.

"I'm sorry" *sniff* "That I'm a bad dancer..." Russia sniffled, desperately trying to stop the thick droplets of water falling down his flushed face.

Seeing his partner like this left a sting in China's heart, he was never this sympathetic with people but Russia seemed to have a different effect on him. He longed to comfort the Russian dragon when Soviet scolds him or when outsiders call him nasty names, to let Russia cuddle up to him and cry to his heart's content, to protect him from the cruelness of the outside world.

"No you're not, not everyone can do things perfectly on their first try. We'll try again, and I'll go slower this time." Russia quickly wipes his tears away with his sleeve, a wave of determination flashed upon his face.

China would say a number one through four, everytime he says a number they would take a step.

"One." step. "Two." step. "Three." step. "Four." step. And repeat. This method seems to work for Russia, for he gradually gained confidence with every step they took. A small smile plastered on his face, that China found adorable.

The Chinese boy felt he didn't need to count anymore, instead he thinks Russia is ready for the next phase.

He raised their intertwined hand up further in the air, this caught Russia's attention. "Walk under our hands in a circle." Russia did just that, their hands departing from the others shoulder and waist respectively, then holding on again. "Again but a little faster." The Russian repeated the movement as he felt China lift their hands up, the nervousness long gone.

They swayed to the barely noticeable tingling sounds of the snowflakes falling around them, like in the center of a large crowd yet all they saw was each other. Bright golden eyes gazed into the warm amber ones that belong to his partner, with such longing and adoration. Their breathing mixing together as they wondered if the other could hear their quickening heartbeats. They swayed with such grace and passion that it was impossible to tell Russia was a beginner at all.

"You're a fast learner." China complemented, the words that Russia planned to say were replaced with a squeak as he felt China lean closer and he was dipped towards the ground without warning. The Russian gripped China's shoulder tighter, their faces inches away from each other.

China pulled them back up, he felt Russia's strong yet trembling grip on his hand and shoulder like he was going to collapse if he let go. "You almost tripped me!" When the Chinese dragon saw Russia's reddened face it was almost impossible to take him seriously. "Fine sorry I'll give you a warning next time." He huffed.

They danced until they heard soviet shouting from inside the cabin, telling China it was getting late and that he needed to go back home.

"I'll teach you the leading part next time, don't worry. It was fun hanging out with you Russia, I look forward to my next visit, 再見! " (goodbye)

China turned to leave but was stopped by Russia grabbing his hand. "Wait! Um-" He made sure that Soviet wasn't watching, then summoned all his remaining courage and leaned down to place a chaste kiss to China's cheek.

"Thank you."

Steam could literally be seen emitting off China, his face looking a lot redder than it already was. "Your welcome..." As soon as he said that, he bolted out of the cabin at lightning speed, clutching his burning cheek.

Even as the sun rose high the next morning, they could still recall every little detail of the walz they shared, warmth filling their chests. Wondering when they'll meet again...

With the loud ticking of the clock behind him, his gaze was locked in the middle of the crowd. Where an all too familiar duo were dancing with fine passion and grace.

"Guess you don't really need me to teach you the leading part huh." He thought.
