we finally made up with each other.
but i guess luck has never been on my side.
calendar date: 2004it was a week later. the weather was cold, the breezing wind hitting each one of the town resident's skin. it was also raining, seolhee hated both, she hated anything cold. the cold would give her this eerie atmosphere. it always brings her sadness for some reason. although sohee was the one to always protect her and give her warmth, yet she wasn't here anymore.
seolhee was in an empty classroom by herself. she was doing an assignment she hasn't finished yet and it was due today. halfway there, the doors slid open indicating someone entered. she didn't bulge, assuming it was one of the classmate who left something behind.
"i'm sorry." seolhee who was unbothered, paused for a second before dropping the pencil from her hands to the ground. the soft voice was quiet yet loud enough for her to hear. she knew that voice, the one she missed hearing. sohee. the girl shots her head up, getting a clear view of sohee standing in front of the doors with glossy eyes. "seolhee, i'm really sorry." she speaks up again, tears already gliding down her face due to the guilt.
seolhee who heard this wasted, no time getting up from her desk and ran straight to her older sister's arms. they cried and stood still in their spot for a few seconds before sohee pulled away. "i'm sorry for my mistakes. i'm sorry for what i've done." she says, while in between breaths and stroking seolhee's hair in the process. taking a look at her younger sister's face, you could tell that she was very sad and happy at the same time even when crying out loud.
"i'm sorry too." she replied. sohee then shook her head, "it's not your fault. none of it is." the younger girl then started to look down to her sister's arms. the uniform was full of blood. before she could point it out, sohee quickly grabbed her wrist and ran out of the classroom to the front of their school gate. since it's raining, their uniforms were wet in the process. "we should get out of here quick."
"why? is someone coming?" the older girl just grinned at the young teen's words. "none of it matters, let's go now!" sohee then starts running, gently pulling seolhee's wrist. she was hesitant for a moment, before throwing it all away on the back of her head because what matters now is they were together. they reunited. she didn't mind if she'll get sick as long as she's with sohee.
this was the moment she's been waiting for. running and playing in the rain just by the two of them. they pushed their pain aside to make room for each other. and thank God her wish finally came true, but the words 'nothing lasts forever' hit too soon.
