Broken Bones

She walks alone into the world

No mother of father to help this girl

Broken bones are her only friend

So she tries hard to pretend

That she has wings to fly away

And maybe live another day.

And count the the stars on her own

Instead of counting the broken bones.

She lives on and counts the days

One bye one, they fly away.

Just as she flutters upon the clouds,

The images become clearer now.

She faces the things that haunted her,

And erases the pain that taunted her.
