In the bustling city of Pentos, nestled on the far side of the strait that borders the land of Westeros, lived the last remnants of House Targaryen. Once a great dynasty, the family had been reduced to bitter exiles, surviving under the protection of the wealthy and powerful Illyrio Mopatis. Among them were the youthful Daenerys and her elder siblings Viserys and Rhaena. For years, they had hidden in plain sight in this foreign land, ever since Robert Baratheon had emerged victorious in his rebellion and claimed the throne of the Seven Kingdoms. But the Targaryens were not content to live out their days in obscurity. Their eyes were fixed firmly on the Iron Throne, and they were determined to reclaim what was rightfully theirs.
Viserys, the self-proclaimed rightful heir to the throne, was a cruel and calculating man, driven by his thirst for power and revenge. He had made a deal with their gracious host, Illyrio Mopatis, who had promised to support Viserys in his quest for the throne in exchange for his loyalty and the repayment of his debts.
It was against this backdrop of desperation and scheming that Daenerys found herself standing before her brother, naked and vulnerable, as he examined her body like a piece of livestock. She felt violated and exposed, but she knew better than to object or resist. Viserys was a dangerous man, and any sign of disobedience could have dire consequences.
Thankfully, Daenerys had her sister Rhaena by her side. Rhaena was a pillar of strength and support for her younger sister, offering words of encouragement and comfort in the face of Viserys' brutality. Rhaena could feel the anger and helplessness rising within her as she watched her sister being objectified and dehumanized, but she knew that she had to keep her emotions in check.
Rhaena had her own struggles to contend with. She had been married off to her own brother, Viserys, in order to keep the Targaryen bloodline pure. Though she had agreed to the arrangement, Rhaena found herself struggling with conflicting emotions. On the one hand, she wanted to support her family and do whatever was necessary to reclaim the throne. On the other hand, the idea of being forced to marry her own brother and bear his children was deeply disturbing to her.
Rhaena had gone through with the marriage, and she was now pregnant with Viserys' child. The thought of bringing another Targaryen into the world filled her with both hope and dread. She knew that her child would be a valuable asset in their quest for the throne, but she also feared for the safety and well-being of her unborn child.
Although Daenerys was initially hesitant about the idea of marrying Khal Drogo, a fierce and powerful warrior from the nomadic Dothraki people, she eventually found herself preparing for the wedding. Despite her reservations and fears, she recognized the political importance of securing the Dothraki's support for her brother's claim to the Iron Throne and understood that the marriage was a necessary sacrifice for the greater good.
The day of Daenerys Targaryen's wedding to Khal Drogo was an event filled with exotic sights and sounds, far removed from the familiar world of her childhood. As she sat beside the powerful Dothraki warrior, she received a constant stream of gifts and well-wishes from the assembled guests. The atmosphere was thick with the scent of roasting meat, and Daenerys could see whole animals turning on spits over open flames.
As the evening wore on, Daenerys' attention turned towards her future husband. Khal Drogo was a towering figure, his chiseled physique and fierce countenance marking him as a true warrior. She watched him closely, trying to discern what sort of man he was. Although she had heard rumors of his brutal tactics and fearsome reputation, she couldn't help but feel drawn to him. His eyes were dark and piercing, and his voice was deep and commanding. She wondered what sort of husband he would make, and what sort of life she would lead as the Khaleesi of the Dothraki.
Rhaena was sitting next to her husband throughout the wedding, her thoughts turn to her worries about her sister's future. "When do I meet with the Khal ?" Viserys asked. Rhaena turned towards the two men next to her "Khal Drogo promised you a crown and you shall have it" responded Illyrio Mopatis.
"When ?" Viserys said, sounding impatient.
"When the omens are favourable" Illyrio answered.
Viserys scoffed "I piss on Dothraki omens. I've waited 17 year to get my throne back." Rhaena looked at him with disbelief, rolling her eyes at his statement.
Under Rhaena watchful gaze, two men began to assault a woman sexually, eventually turning on each other in a ruthless battle to the death. Daenerys was appalled by the scene before her, but Khal Drogo appeared to relish the spectacle. The crowd erupted in raucous cheers and jeers as Illyrio Mopatis leaned in to Viserys "A Dothraki wedding without three death is considered a bad affair" Viserys laughed in response, enjoying the entertainment. When Rhaena noticed Daenerys watching, she gave her sister a reassuring nod.
A man appears in front of Daenerys to bring her a gift, Drogo seems to recognise him and says a few words in Dothraki "A small gift for the new Khaleesi. Song and histories from the Seven Kingdoms" the man says as he gives Rhaena's sister a pill of books.
"Thank you sir, are you from my country?" The Khaleesi questioned the man as she looked up at him.
"Ser Jorah Mormont from Bear Island. I served your father for many years"replied the man "Gods be good I hope to serve the rightful king" he looked in Viserys direction who nodded, acknowledging him.
Ser Jorah withdrew and two other men brought a wooden chest before Daenerys placing it at her feet. With a curious look, she lifted the lid to reveal a nest of shimmering, brightly colored eggs "Dragons eggs Daenerys, from the Shadow lands beyond Asshai" said Illyrio as he stood up "The ages have turned them into stone but there will always be beautiful"
Daenerys smiled at the compliment as she carefully picked up a green egg "Thank you magister" she replied.
Illyrio leaned back in his chair, offering a small box to Rhaena with a whispered invitation, "There's one for you too, Rhaena" her eyes lit up with curiosity as she accepted the gift, quickly opening the lid to reveal a small black egg nestled inside. As she gazed upon the unusual item, a wave of emotion washed over her, causing her to instinctively place a hand on her belly who had been growing for the past six months.
For a few moments, Rhaena was lost in her own thoughts, a strange feeling coming over her. It wasn't quite pain nor joy, but something else... A nagging feeling that she should know what was happening.
"Rhaena?" Viserys spoke her name softly "Are you all right ?" Rhaena looked up and nodded with a fake smile plastered across her lips "Yea..yes I'm fine. Why wouldn't I be?" she replied.
At that moment, Drogo rose from his seat. Though they did not share a common language, Daenerys understood that she was to follow him and reluctantly set aside the dragon egg. Drogo presented her with a white horse, a beautiful mare that caught Daenerys' eye, but she was unable to express her appreciation to her husband, who could not understand her words. Rhaena and her husband stood up and followed their sister.
Drogo lifted Daenerys as if she weighed no more than a few grams and placed her on the horse's saddle. Just before she departed, Viserys imparted a final piece of advice, which sounded more like a command "Make him happy". Rhaena stood there, struggling to swallow as she saw her sister leave with her new husband , uncertain about what the future held for her sister. Despite her worries, Rhaena knew that she had to be strong for her sister, and that she would do everything in her power to support and protect her.
