CHAPTER NINETEEN !

.*

ESTELLA WAS STOOD OUTSIDE again with axel and carol. she had learnt that axel was actually pretty funny, and had many fun stories to tell. it had been two days since the run in with the governor. two days without daryl. two days without maggie and glenn's usual loving selves.

axel was telling herself and carol another random story, and estella had laughed loudly at it. it was a story about when he was young, he had a fight with a boy in his school. he had long hair, though, so the guy picked him up like matilda and spun him around because the guy was way too muscular for a fifth grader. it made estella laugh the hardest she had in a bit.

michonne was stood by the bus, keeping watch. it seemed like michonne was always on edge, waiting for something bad to happen. estella was kinda scared of her.

"stress getting to your man rick?" axel asked, tapping carol on her shoulder.

"can you blame him?" carol asked.

"nah. not at all. in here i've seen plenty of dudes crack. but not me. i got on better on the inside. things made more sense, you know? there were rules. life was more... simple." he said.

"didn't you miss your brother?" estella asked, staring up at him from where she was stood at the far side of carol.

"my brother? hell, no. he had a real money problem." axel said, laughing at the question.

"what kind of problem?" she asked, confused.

"he didn't lend me any." axel replied. this made carol laugh, but estella just didn't get the joke. "one time that son of a-"

shot. axel was shot, right through the eye. estella screamed loudly as his body flopped down, lifeless on the floor. the blood splattered on both carol and estella's face, but mostly carol because she was closest to him.

that's when she locked eyes with a man that only had one eye, and a bandage through the other. he was on the other side of the fence. this was the governor. and beside him, her mother.

she gasped, loudly. how did she get out?

estella ran straight to carl and beth, who grabbed estella and ran. beth passed estella a gun that she didn't really know how to use, but she was going to anyway. they hid behind a wall, seeing carol using axel's body as a shield on the ground.

carl began shooting at the man that stood in the guard tower. michonne began shooting at the governor, using the bus as her shield. estella's mother began shooting at hershal, who was in the grass. estella held her gun up, trying to fire at her mom but kept missing shots because of how far away she was.
