A month later
"Black widow was the best of the best in the red room. She escaped, and turned her life around. Then she also became a part of the avengers!" Cassandra argued, looking at the spectacled boy in front of her.
"Captain America literally fought in the world War and sacrificed himself! He also-" Simon trailed off, looking at Clary, who walked into the cafe, a frown on her face.
She didn't get in.
"Give me the professors' names and I... I will end them." The boy started making the girls at the table turn to him with an amused smile. " You know, with... with a scathing e-mail to the dean."
"Or I can just do it physically," Cassy quickly added, looking at her sister with a questioning gaze.
"Yea, let her. I'm pretty sure they've never been threatened by a fifteen year old before."
"Don't bother." Clary laughed, handing Simon a letter.
Simon picked it up, letting out a gasp "What?"
"What? What do you mean what you idiot?" The Apollo child looked over his shoulder, as he let out a laugh.
"The sad face? Really? Well played, well played."
"Wait what happened? Simon, what does it s-" "She got in, Cass." He cut her off with a smile, making her mirror it as she turned to her sister. "What! I knew it! I told you you'd get in!"
SImple moments like these reminded Cassy what it was to be human. To have the simple memories to look forward to.
It had been a month since she had been placed into Jocelyn's care and not a day went by that she thought about the childhood she would have had if she was placed here sooner. The nightmares were still present, yes, but the support offered by Clary and Simon helped her through it, in addition to Nico who shadow travelled into her bedroom almost every night to sleep with her.
It was the small things like Movie night with the family, including Luke and Simon, and the midnight McDonald's against Will's better judgement with Nico, that got her through.
"Thank you. Thank you." Clary laughed at the pair. "You know, it's weird. They kind of liked my assigned work, but they flipped out over the drawings for our graphic novel. I told them it was an accident but they said there was no such thing as that in art and the next thing I know, I got in!"
"Your welcome!" The pair chorused, knowing it was them who had placed it in with her assigned work.
"I swear to gods, you two are incredible! This day will go down in history as the greatest 18th birthday I ever had."
"Actually," Cassy pointed out, "This will go down as the only eighteenth birthday you'll ever have."
"That's irrelavent Cassy." SImon covered her mouth, turning to Clary. "Which is why we are celebrating tonight. Yes, with Maureen, after our show."
"Absolutely." Clary replied as Cassy licked his hand.
"Ewww, why would you-"
"So... what's the deal with you and Maureen?" Clary turned to Simon.
"What deal? No deal. We sing together."
"You seriously don't know she's been crushing on you this whole time?"
Dam Clary, you seriously don't know he's been crushing on you this whole time?
"What? No. No."
