𝐆𝐖𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐇𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐃 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐌 𝐒𝐀𝐌 𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓 at the Halloween dance. There were a couple texts in their group chat, but they were clipped and rare. Apparently, her dad had royally embarrassed her in front of Kyler and ruined her whole night, but that was all Gwen had been able to pick up during the car ride to In-N-Out. So, her radio silence either meant that she was in big trouble with her parents or mourning whatever situationship she had going with Kyler.

Not that Gwen cared.

Well, she didn't care until Kyler started sharing all of the nitty gritty details about his and Sam's latest date — if you could even call it that.

Gwen, Yasmine, and Moon were sitting with Kyler and his friends at lunch, locked in on every word he was saying as he went into a graphic description of his and Sam's cringeworthy sexual encounter in a movie theater, which ended with her storming out all embarrassed after the fact.

But high school was filled with anecdotes like that.

What really caught the girls' attention was what Sam said right before she left him in the theater. "Then, before she dipped, Sam made sure to say some really messed up stuff about you guys and... and just women in general," Kyler informed them. Gwen's brows furrowed, never having pegged him as a feminist, but far too curious about what Sam said to question him.

"Well, what the fuck did she say?" Yasmine demanded with a scowl.

Kyler's lips pursed in disapproval as his eyes trailed elsewhere. "Basically, she said some shit about being better than you guys. Like, she was above giving head in a movie theater or something, but y'all aren't. That type of shit, y'know?"

All of the girls turned to each other, jaws agape at what they had heard. However, they had each honed in on entirely different parts of what he had told them.

"Better than me? Yeah, right. Sam fucking wishes," Gwen seethed, arms crossing in front of her.

"I would never do something like that in a movie theater," Yasmine huffed before considering it further. "A car, maybe. But that's classy."

"Wait, who said that?" Moon asked, having zoned out at the beginning of the conversation. Yasmine began re-explaining the situation to Moon, but Gwen was already so deep into a mental spiral that she barely heard them. This news was just kind of a shock to hear.

Had Sam always thought that Gwen was beneath her in some way?

Her lips twisted into a grimace as she worked through all the possible origins for this sudden superiority complex Sam had, unable to stop her mind from flashing back to Summer Cortez and her group of followers. The worst part of it all was that Summer and all the other girls like her had at least been up front with their distaste, but Sam had hidden it under a sickeningly sweet, fake layer of innocence—which was an even worse crime in Gwen's world.

Gwen couldn't help but feel weird about ditching Sam on the day of their 5SOS concert. The girls had been planning their outfits for weeks, researching the setlist, and even watching concert videos in preparation. It was supposed to be one of the best days ever. But when Sam decided to turn into a holier-than-thou bitch, she kind of fucked all of that up.

Still, the other girls went to the show, operating solely on spite. They refused to let Sam ruin their night more than she already had.

So, they got all dressed up, got in their Uber, and danced their hearts out in the pit. Oh, and Yasmine made sure to post something on her story about it, positive that it would get back to Sam in one way or another. That was exactly what she wanted, after all.
