The wind was gently hitting me as I skated down the empty road. My hair flying everywhere. My music sounding from the device in the back pocket of my favorite denim shorts.
That's how I spent most of my Saturday days and I liked it that way. I liked being alone, although it did get quite boring.
I decided to go to the park to watch the sun set. It is honestly the most perfect place to see the beautiful sun and moon transition.
There was a bench I always sat on that was placed in the hill of the rather large park. The red bench was usually empty and I'm guessing it's because there's nothing interesting near it except for a garbage can that's like 10 feet away from it.
I sat still and patiently watched the beautiful bright orange sun and the purple, pink ish colored clouds surrounding it.
I kept my eyes on the sky until I got distracted by a few familiar voices.
"Is that Jennie?" the girl said to the other.
"Yeah, I think it is, let's go over there!" The other girl responded.
I managed to keep my sight on the sun set as I heard the girls getting closer. I was pretending to be completely unaware of my two closest friends. Pretty sure that's not what the normal person usually does but oh well.
"Hey Jen, what are you doing up here by yourself?" asked the short, light brown haired Allyson Hernandez. My best friend since the sixth grade.
"I always come up here to watch the sun set" I responded.
"It is quite beautiful" said Monica Sanchez. She had long dark brown hair with blonde ombré in the bottom and was pretty tall.
The three of us looked at the sun as it was almost disappearing and the colors were beyond amazing. A very bright pink was layered on top of a dark purple and the flashing orange sun underneath the dark purple.
"I say the three of us should do this more often." Ally randomly blurted
"Yeah I totally agree!" Said Monica.
"You know what, me too. I'm sorry I never hang out with you guys. I feel like a shit friend."
"Oh Hun, you ain't shit. From as long as I've known you, you just only like to be alone and that's not a problem. We completely understand" Ally said giving me a soft smile.
"Yeah but ugh I don't know, I'm tired of being alone and you guys are great. I'm sorry."
"I know we are. Now listen, we need to make this year the best possible and the three of us doing memorable crap like this is just the beginning" Monica said, smiling widely.
"Alright well I'm hungry now, let's go get food." I said as I got up and picked up my skateboard.
The three of us walked down the trail. We decided to go to Jack in the Box because it was the closest.
We arrived and each ordered our food. After, we got our drinks and to our surprise the food was already set on the tray and ready for us. Ally thanked the employee and grabbed the tray. We all sat down and began eating. We engaged in small talk about school and cracked jokes towards the people we disliked.
Suddenly we got interrupted by a group of guys that walked in the door. There were about five of them and a couple had skateboards too. They were really loud.
"Yo those guys are pretty cute, not gonna lie" Monica said eyeing the guys.
Ally and I nodded in agreement as we stuffed our faces.
Three of the guys surprisingly decided to sit a table in front of us and one specifically managed to get my attention.
He had amazing dark hair and the most cutest smile ever. I heard him say something to his friend and his voice even sounded beautiful.
"Omg Jennie, which one is it?" Ally said excitingly to me.
"Aw shit, am I being too obvious" I say nervously
"Eh maybe just a little" said Monica laughing.
"It's the one with the dark wavy hair, the one by the window"
"Oo the one in the black Santa Cruz shirt?" asked Ally.
"Ssh, yes that one" I said.
The three of us were looking at him and he quickly noticed looking back at us. His eyes met mine and I quickly looked away. His friends noticed his attention on us and they turned around to face us. They smiled and turned back to the Santa Cruz boy.
The two other friends of theirs came with the food and before they could sit down, the Santa Cruz boy whispered something to them.
The three of them got up from their seats and headed towards the table right next to us.
"Oh my fucking gosh" I said, getting nervous.
"Just be chill you guys" whispered Monica.
"Hey, yall seem pretty familiar, do you guys go to North Ridge?" Said one of the guys. He was wearing a white shirt and khaki shorts. He had curly dirty blonde hair and ocean blue eyes.
"Yeah, we all go there" said Ally, smiling and blushing.
Monica and I already knew she was starting to crush on this guy.
"Nice, nice. We all thought you guys looked lonely, we wanna introduce ourselves. Always nice to have new friends" said the boy.
"The names Cole" said the dirty blonde giving us a nice smile.
The Santa Cruz boy I had my eyes on and his friend stood up next to the other guy there, him speaking before we could.
"My name is Nathan" he said, shaking each of our hands.
My god. He was even cuter up close. His eyes were hazel, about 6 feet tall, and his hair perfectly styled up in a quiff.
The third guy approached us.
"And my names Jason"Jason had a navy blue sweater on, with canvas pants. His hair; black, long and wavy with dark brown eyes.
"Nice to meet you guys" said Monica.
"Uh, well, my names Monica, this is Ally, and this is Jennie"
We both smiled back at them and I looked back down at my food. Gosh, why can't I be like Ally and Monica. They were so open and social, while I'm all awkward and shy.
The two guys sitting on the table next to us got up and told them something quietly. I managed to hear the word party and that's it so I'm guessing they were going to a party.
"Oh shit, I almost forgot about that" Nathan said to the two guys that never introduced themselves to us.
"Uh sorry, but we all gotta go, say how about you guys meet us at the skatepark tomorrow around 5?"
"We'll be there!" said Ally.
"Great" Nathan smiled and so did the rest of the guys.
They all said bye to us and left the fast food restaurant.
"Well this was an interesting day" said Monica
"Ha, tomorrow should be even more interesting" I said, somehow earning a laugh from the both of them.
