It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining, flowers were blooming everywhere, and a young man named Hesitant was just waking up.8:00 am.

Should I get up yet, or should I go back to sleep?

His phone buzzed. It was a text message from none other than Hesitant's best friend Confident.

Hey, Hes! Wanna go for a walk this morning? It's gorgeous outside!

A walk? That definitely wasn't on his schedule for today. He checked his calendar hanging on the wall, and then the calendar on his phone.

Eat a healthy breakfast

Do laundry

Clean kitchen

Take shower

Pick up package from post office

Eat dinner with Skeptical

Nope. A walk with Confident was nowhere on my schedule.

He texted his friend back, making sure to check for spelling errors or anything that might not convey his meaning exactly the way he wanted to.

Sorry, Confident. I've got a schedule to stick to, and taking a walk has too many variables in it. Perhaps next week.

He pressed send, and slowly got out of bed. He went to his closet and picked a green t-shirt and grey jeans to wear. Comfortable, and allowing him to do all the things he needed to do that day. Maybe later he would swap the shirt for one more fancy to go out to dinner.

He padded quietly to the small kitchen, and got a plain yogurt from the refrigerator. He then reached into his cabinet for the cheerios. He methodically mixed in a handful of cheerios into the yogurt, making sure that there was the perfect ratio of cereal-to-yogurt. He turned on some soothing music while he ate his breakfast, and mentally checked off the first thing from his schedule.

—Twenty Minutes Later—

As Hesitant was sorting through his white and colored laundry, ready to wash his clothes from the past week, he heard a loud knocking on his door.

Who could that possibly be?

He set down his shirt on the washing machine and strolled to the door. He peeked through the little window in the door and saw it was none other than Confident. Hesitant let out a sigh.

I already told him I can't go on a walk!

He opened the door, and before he could say a word, his friend whisked him outside. Suddenly, they were walking along the sidewalk side by side.

"Good morning!" Confident greeted, offering a giant smile.

Hesitant pursed his lips. "Confident, I already told you, I have lots of things to do at home, I can't go on this walk!"

"Oh, sure you can. It's a gorgeous day."

"Mm," he replied, annoyed that his friend was able to drag him along on another of his spontaneous adventures.

"Let's walk downtown. Maybe we can get something to eat later," Confident suggested, turning to Hesitant.

"I'm not sure... I mean—"

"You need to stop over-analyzing everything, Hes! Jeez, give yourself a break," he says, chuckling. "It will be fine. You'll be hungry by the time we get there!"

—Twenty more minutes later—

Lingering at the door, Hesitant couldn't decide if he wanted ice cream or Jamba Juice. The row of freezing display cases looked so inviting with their brightly colored frozen treats. Yet, if he went next door, a smoothie would be refreshing and wouldn't make his stomach hurt as much if he drank too much of it.
