I wake up, feeling rested and refreshed. The first in a while that I was able to sleep. But who knows how long this will last? I get out of bed and slip on my clothes for the day. I go into the bathroom and brush my teeth and fix up my hair. I look at myself in the mirror, you can see how much I have changed. My silver hair became lighter and my eyes were still the same good color. I go downstairs and smell maple. I walk over to the kitchen and see my dad sitting at the table eating while looking through his phone and I see my aunt making pancakes. I walk over to the stove and pour some coffee and drink it black. Josephine finishes up the pancakes and looks over at me, "Today we are practicing your magic. I need you ready for anything. Do you understand?" I nod, "Yes ma'am. I'll go ahead and start reading some of the pages in the book." I go over to the living room and grab the book off the coffee table. I heard to the dining table and sit down with some pancakes and coffee. I started reading the book, gathering all the information I need. I first learned our history. Going back to the 1800s. We also had befriended Wulvers before as well. We used our magic for different things. You can conjure or make things vanish. This was a lot to take in but I'm getting a good understanding of it. My dad sips his coffee and looks at me, "I remember when I first found out your mom was a witch. I wasn't shocked. It was nice to know she was. But I always seemed to be her practice for everything. I got so tired of it. But it was worth it. She was a strong witch too. I miss her.." He gets up and cleans his stuff up and continues, "Well I'm going to head to the shop. Thankfully I have an upstairs area where I can make my sleeping area. I will sleep there for the time being. You think you girls can put a charm on it for me?" Josie nods, of course. We will go by there later today before Sybil has to go to work." I nod and smile. Excited to do something. He grabs his keys and waves bye before heading out the door. I clean up my plate and run downstairs to start practicing. My aunt walks down the steps and waves her hand in a motion. The cauldron disappears again and only the center is open. "Grab the wand, you are going to use it." I walk over to the wand and grab it. The wand begins to glow brightly. I stand in the center of the room. "Now close your eyes and focus on your wand. You are going to ground yourself. Become strong. Become one with yourself." I close my eyes, thinking about myself as a tree. Feeling my roots grab energy from the ground and into my body. Not too long does the glow fade a little bit. I look over at Josie and smile. "Good. Now I want you to use your wand to be able to point toward this target, focus on it, and hit it. I look over at the paper target. I point my wand and red spirals hit it and rip the paper. She nods and takes the wand, placing it back into the box. After hours of practice, we stopped. I felt stronger than before. It felt great. I knew the longer I kept practicing, I would be able to fight whatever fought my father. I look at my gaze in the mirror, I was flushed and hate sweat dripping down my face. I look over at my aunt who had a smirk plastered on her face, "So did you tell anyone you were a witch?" I shook my head, "No. I did almost tell Riftan at one point, but I stopped myself." She points her gaze over at a drawer on the counter, "You might want to tell him eventually." She opens up the drawer and pulls out a picture. She shows me and I look over at it. Seeing a photo of my father and mother holding twin babies, Roseanne and aunt Josephine were standing next to them smiling. I look at her confusing, "Is that Riftan and Riley?" She nods, "Yeah. Roseanne is their mother. She was a witch just like us." I look at her wide-eyed, "What? Really. No wonder...Does she still practice magic?" She shakes her head slowly, "No. Unfortunately, one day she had a bad accident with magic and it backfired on her. She lost her powers. They lost their father in that accident. She doesn't bring it up anymore, but the twins knew about it long enough. This all happened a few years ago. But it is safe to say something to Riftan. If you are comfortable with it." I nod, knowing full well when I am ready. I will tell him. We clean up and go back upstairs and I pick up my keys and purse. I look over at my aunt who was locking up the basement. "I am going to head to dad's shop to help him clean up. I need to spend more time with him. I only met the man last night. Seems only reasonable." She nods and smiles, pulling me in for a hug. "That is fine, dear. Do what you feel is best." I break the hug and leave out the door.
