I ran through the field, and my lungs burned as if flames burned inside them, But I couldn't stop I needed to get away.
as I neared the middle of the field my knees gave out forcing me to stop as I hit the ground. warm tears replaced the old ones that had dried on my cheek
the sky above me was dark full of only the echos of light from far away cities the light artificial and fake
and then all of a sudden tiny dots came into view they glowed and drew me in Almost as if I could reach out and hold them in my palm
I soon identified these as stars, I had heard of them but never had the honor or privilege to have them in my sky
it came to my attention that they made the shape of a thrown and sitting on it was a queen
Cassiopeia
before I knew it she stood in front of me herself staring at me with kind and thoughtful eyes that stared through my very soul
"welcome home Andromeda " was all she said before reaching out and drying my tears with warm hands "Your kingdom awaits " and just like that she was gone but not permanently she returned to her thrown in the sky
she almost beckoned me to join her as if I could become a part of the sky too
I stayed in the field scared to leave
scared to go back to the ultraviolet light of the city that polluted my sky with its light
As I stayed longer
I saw more stars enter my sky
these are shaped into the figure of a swan and just like Cassiopeia was in front of me in the field
Cygnus
she came to the ground in the form of a girl my age she hugged me whispering
" We have reunited once again Phaeton, hello my old friend " and she returned to her swan form in the inky black sky above me
I waited longer and as I did I realized the light pollution of the city was dimmer not gone fully but less than before
and more stars came
these in the form of a strong warrior
Orion had entered my sky and just like the others he came to the field smiling warmly and laughing
" Artemis my sister of war, our victory will come in due time" and he then joined the other all three constellations close but never touching
they all visited every once in a while as we laughed and cried and made memories
I thought my sky was full
until
another constellation joined
Perseus
She came down too
holding my hand she looked me in my eyes " Andromeda my love, I have found you at last "
now the fake light of the city was long gone
I had love, I had a friend , a brother, a guiding figure
they brought a glow to the blank canvas above me
I wasn't just me
I was
Andromeda
Phaeton
Artemis
I had a purpose
A family
my sky was so bright
and I wanted to stay like that as long as I could
and one day I would join them
the sky would be my home
and they would be my family
The starlight gave me hope
and it was calm
and beautiful
and it was mine
