"ℑ'm going to catch you!"

"Oh no, you cannot!"

Two young voices tittered and taunted after each other - one belonging to a girl and one to a boy. The boy chased the girl down the valiant halls of his home, their running echoing off the walls and tiled flooring. Although they were both in their teens in Elven years, they looked like children in physical appearance.

He chased her out into the open bush with the thick, spiraling trees dwindling above them. The girl decided to play a trick on the boy chasing her and suddenly disappeared, leaving the boy confused enough to stop in his place and scour around for her.

"Ann?" He called, only to receive silence in return. "Anarí, where'd you go?"

The girl had used the Earth element of her abilities to thicken a shroud she disappeared behind, concealing her from her best friend, Legolas. Only, what was waiting for her on the other side happened to be one of the locals of the Woodlands; a giant, predatorial spider.

The spider bared its pinchers at her, making Anari scream at the sight, giving Legolas an idea of where she was. He then made haste, running as fast as his legs could carry his small body in the direction he heard the scream come from.

"Anarí! Where are you?!" He called out, as he stopped momentarily to listen for any more sounds.

Then, suddenly, Anarí burst out from around the corner, with a large spider hot on her tail. Legolas' eyes widened, and he sprang into action, reaching for the bow and quiver on his back that he always carried with him. He notched an arrow onto the bow, then let it fly after the spider, striking the spider in one of its eyes.

The spider shrieks and stumbles around, giving Anarí a chance to turn around and fight back. She ignites a flame in her hand, then tosses the ball of fire at the nasty creature, setting it on fire and leaving the spider no choice but to turn around and retreat into the deep, murky forest.

Anarí released a breath she didn't realize she was holding.

"You alright?" Legolas asks, earning a nod in return. "Why didn't you just do that the first time?" He adds, referring to her fire element.

She glances at him, "I tried to, but I missed."

This earns a small smile from Legolas as he shakes his head, "come on, we should be getting back." Anarí nodded in agreement, then follows behind him back to his home in the Woodland realm.

                                                                                            ✧✵✧

The two children burst through the great doors of Legolas' extravagant home - running up the spiraled, wooden path to the platform where Thranduil sat on his throne. Except, this time, he was standing a little away from his throne, engaged in conversation with Anarí's mother, Lady Celebrian.

"Mother, mother! You'll never believe what happened today!" Anarí exclaimed, disregarding that her mother was currently occupied conversing with Legolas' father, Thranduil.

Celebrían turned her attention from the Elven King to her daughter, stooping over with her hands on her knees to look at Anarí. "What happened, dearest?" She inquired, stroking her daughter's dazzling hair to the side, while the Elven King sighed silently in annoyance at being interrupted.

"Legolas and I were playing in the forest, and a spider found us, but we took it down together! Isn't that fantastic?" Anarí beamed.

"Yes, but darling, you shouldn't have been in the forest in the first place. It's no place for young Elves, especially ones of royalty." Celebrían gently scolded.
