Under The Assassin's Protection

11 {part-2}

Kane kissed Asteria's forehead as he slipped out of bed trying not to disturb her sleep. He knew very well that she wouldn't want him leaving her sight for a few days.

He decided to "do things" while she slept so that it won't pose as an issue for any of them. Making his way towards the gym he made a few calls asking for updates from his teams. They had been working since Asteria returned and none of them had dared to leave from the office except for the breaks that they were allowed to take. Everyone knew how important this was for their boss. Despite for his cold nature they knew how much he cared for his people; his mafia.

After exercising and talking to his trusted men amongst the mafia he went to take a bath before waking Asteria up. The house had been under tight security every person that left the premises had to take permission from Kane himself.

The family were all asked to stay inside and leave only after informing that too for urgent matters only. Every family member had three gaurds following them whenever they left the house. The whole property was seconds away from lockdown with gaurds checking every corner of the estate every hour.

Kane came out of the bathroom and headed towards his closet to change into a black tee and jeans. He then came out to wake Asteria but stood frozen as he saw her thrashing around in bed.

It was the worst thing he could ever experience or so he thought when Asteria whimpered crying his name out. This somehow unfreezed him as he ran towards her gently placing her in his lap. He hugged her tightly as he tried to assure her that it was okay.

Asteria woke up from a nightmare only to find a pair of hands holding her which made her very scared making her scream for her father.

"DADDY SA-SAVE- NO N-NO P-PLE-PLEASE N-N-NO!!"

Kane couldn't believe what he was witnessing this was the worst way he could get reminded of the mistakes he had made. He rubbed her back as he tried to comfort her telling her that it's him and she's safe.

"Shh calm down Mia principessa..your safe okay? Your safe..Calm down please just calm down..." Kane couldn't see tears in his little girls eyes because it only increased his hatred towards his inability of finding her sooner.

"Ria.. Bambino please don't cry please! I-I am right here okay? I'm here..Your papá..your daddy is here with you..P-Please just don't.."
His voice broke and so did his heart as he begged her to stop crying. He could see how fragile his little girls heart was. She always got scared and always had alot of insecurities in her mind.

Asteria hugged her father tightly gripping his shirt in her tiny fists with all the strength she had. It made her feel safe, it reminded her that he was here to stay and wouldn't leave her. She was scared to lose her papá just like she had lost her mother. Unaware of the fact that soon it would be all better, better than it was right now.

Unknown POV

I walked towards the nearest locker region as I put in the code. We had these sort of lockers everywhere in the country. The mafia I was a part of was basically like a gang of Assassin's. We did all sort of work and ran a huge network for different mafia's.

Every mafia needed assassins for one reason or other and appointed us. So our connections with the main mafia's were great giving us a very powerful and political position in the underworld.

I pick the bag up as I head towards the nearest washroom to change. Opening the bag I find two guns with  coordinates to our nearest centre. It also had some masks and a wig along with food and water.

I ate and drank some of it throwing the rest as I grabbed the bundle of cash and headed off towards the nearest subway. I knew I could simply give a call to one of them and I could get escorted to him but right now we had a mole.

And that's the reason why I didn't tell anyone that I was back. It wouldn't be safe for our family to know about it unless I am the one standing in front of them spilling the secrets..

I knew that she was safe far from danger but it was only a matter of time before they would make their first move. And i had to reach to them before that happen. I had to warn him for the safety of our small family.

Time was running for us and I knew that it won't stop for anyone. No matter how innocent or pure you are you will have to face the shitty consequences of things you didn't even do. I learnt it the very hard way and I didn't want my family to face it again.

But my mind was also made I won't let it happen again. I won't let what happened years ago repeat itself. Even though people say history repeats itself but it won't for me because I am Everette Irene Cruz and this is my life.

And I won't let the past repeat itself not now not ever...
