The next day, the Marauders found themselves in Charms class, sitting at their usual table in the back of the room. James, Sirius, and Peter were whispering and giggling about their latest prank idea, while Remus focused on taking notes.

Suddenly, the door to the classroom burst open, and a tall, thin man strode in. He had slicked-back hair and a cold, calculating look in his eyes.

"Good morning, students," he said, his voice icy. "I am Professor Ivanov, and I will be your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year."

The Marauders exchanged a look. They had heard rumors about this new teacher, and none of them sounded good.

As Professor Ivanov began the lesson, the Marauders couldn't help but feel uneasy. He was strict and demanding, and it was clear that he had no patience for their usual antics.

After class, they were making their way to lunch when they saw Lyra sitting alone at a table, staring down at her food.

"Hey, Lyra," James said, approaching her. "Mind if we join you?"

Lyra looked up, a small smile on her face. "Sure, I'd like that."

As they sat down, James couldn't help but notice the way that Lyra seemed to be glancing nervously over her shoulder.

"Is everything okay?" he asked.

Lyra hesitated for a moment before responding. "I don't know," she said. "There's something strange going on. Every time I turn a corner, I feel like someone is watching me."

The Marauders exchanged a worried look. They had heard rumors about strange happenings at Hogwarts, but they had always assumed that it was just their overactive imaginations.

"We'll keep an eye out," Sirius said reassuringly. "No one messes with the Marauders' friends."

Lyra smiled gratefully, and they spent the rest of lunch chatting and laughing, the tension from earlier melting away.

As they made their way back to their common room, however, they encountered a strange figure lurking in the shadows. It was a hooded figure, with glowing red eyes that seemed to follow them as they walked.

The Marauders immediately drew their wands, their hearts pounding in their chests. Lyra looked frightened but determined, her eyes fixed on the figure.

"Who are you?" James demanded, his voice shaking slightly.

The figure simply laughed, a high, grating sound that sent chills down their spines. And then, with a sudden burst of speed, it disappeared into the darkness.

The Marauders stood there for a moment, their wands still drawn, their hearts racing.

"What the hell was that?" Peter whispered.

"I don't know," Remus said, his voice grave. "But I have a feeling that things are about to get a lot more dangerous."

Over the next few days, the Marauders couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched. Everywhere they went, they saw strange shadows moving in the corners of their vision, and they heard whispers and rustling noises when no one was around.

They tried to carry on with their usual pranks and mischief, but it was difficult to focus with the sense of impending danger hanging over them.

One night, as they were making their way back to their dormitory after a late night in the library, they heard a loud scream coming from one of the empty classrooms.

Without hesitating, they burst into the room, their wands at the ready. They found Lyra, huddled in a corner, her eyes wide with fear.

"What happened?" James asked, his heart racing.
