"Kappa, we know what has to happen now." Both Kappa and Siren stood still, looking painfully into eachothers eyes while the prophecy was the only thing keeping them close now. "I know." Kappa whispered, his voice starting to tremble. Siren held his arms open, and Kappa swam into them, holding onto him with a death grip. "Goodbye Kappa.."——
So here we are. The exact same place we were half a year ago, only it was Kappa holding the weapon. He had taken Siren knife because they didn't really have a spear. He was right infront of Siren, staying silent while the knife was held tightly in his hand. Wow, another traumatizing thing to come by a knife. "Kappa." Siren spoke, which knocked Kappa out of his train of thought. He looked up at Siren, looking like he wanted to cry. Kappa reached up and kissed him softly, trying to enjoy his last moments with him. "Okay."
"This will hurt, won't it." Kappa asked quietly. "You could never hurt me Kappa." Siren whispered, brushing his hand against his cheek. Kappa put his hand over Sirens chest and raised his knife. Siren closed his eyes tightly, preparing. But when he heard the knife slash down, he didn't feel anything. And the blood he smelled, it wasn't his own.
"Kappa?" He asked, opening his eyes only to see Kappa a bloody mess and his knife jabbed into his chest. He watched in terror, blood being all he could smell, and not being able to take his eyes off him. Once he got enough courage to move, and swam over to Kappa as fast as he could. Siren held Kappa in his arms, feeling like he could cry with what was happening. "M-Maybe.. this will get rid o-of the prophecies." Kappa stuttered, his voice being raspy from the blood probably filling his throat now. Siren was angry, and terrified, and sad, and panicked, he didn't know how to express that. "S-Shut up Kappa!" He sobbed, holding tighter onto him. But Kappa smiled. And for the first time in awhile, it was genuine. Not haunted by memories, not scared of what he had to do, it was careless and peaceful, it was something Siren had never seen. "T-This is going to solve.. a l-lot more problems." He said, reaching up and putting his hand against Sirens face. He pulled his closer and kissed him softly. Siren held his breath, feeling like he was unable to breath when all he smelled was Kappas blood. "All I wanted.. was t-to protect you." Kappa whispered. "Did I.. succeed?" Siren didn't know how to answer that. It was his fault. "Yes.." he sobbed. "I'm about to die Siren." Kappa said quietly, and Siren looked into his eyes with pain. "I-It's not your fault. Promise me you'll never blame yourself." Siren was silent. "P-Please." On one hand, this was his dying promise, on another, Siren didn't think he would be able to not blame himself. "I-I'll try." He whispered, and Kappa smiled again. "I love you." He said. Siren pulled his closer, hugging him tightly. "I love you too.."
Eventually, Kappas grip loosened, and he was gone. Siren had held Kappa, the beacon, child of the surface god, while he died because of his prophecy. Siren fell over, Kappa still gripped in his arms so he could pretend he was alive just a little longer. Did this really solve the curse? Or was it all for nothing? He paused. No, even if it didn't solve the curse, this wasn't for nothing. At least, it wasn't for Kappa. To him, saving Siren was all that mattered to him. And that's what he did. He saved Siren from himself.
