Throwing my bag on the couch, I make my way to the kitchen and picked up Fulio. She's a cat. I had her as my birthday present when I was 13.
"Smells good mom." I said, jumping on the counter and bite on an apple "Get off the counter now." She hit my thigh and I pout. "And wash your hands first before you eat that, Melissa. You just touched Fulio. How many times do I have to tell you that?" Rolling my eyes, I drop Fulio to the ground. "Actually, this is the first time you tell me that." I remarked. "Don't talk back." She pointed a finger at me and I let out a scoff.
"Go and take a shower first. After that, come down to eat. Then you can finish your homework." She ordered. "Can't I sleep first? I'm tired!" I whined. "I've never seen you touch a book or study. You're going to college, Lis. This is important for you." Mom fold her arms. I ignore her and run upstairs to my room.
This happens a lot of time before. And it stressed me out. Dad never force me to do things like this. But then again he's always not home at home. I don't like it when people force me to do things. I'll do it if I want to do it, and if I failed it's my fault. Not yours, so piss off. I rummage my bag to get my phone. I dialled the number that I have memorized so well.
"Hola." She answered. "Hey. I'm just so stressed out." I play with the strand of my blonde hair. I thought about dyeing it purple. "Your mom again?" She asked, aware of everything that's happening in my life. "Mhm. Told me to study all day. Can't even sleep." She laughed. "Take a nap. She won't know. Then you can finish the homework." "That's what I'm planning to d- Get out of my room Jason!" I yelled, looking at Jason, holding a frog. He's dead if he brings that thing closeer to me. "You know, you should consider spending time with J sometimes. I think he loves her sister and wants to be closer to her, don't you think?" I chuckled, "Well if he wants to hang with me he should know that I don't like slimy ugly creatures." I said. "Well, I'm going to take a shower. See you tomorrow baby." "Ew you stink. Just kidding, I'm not even home yet. I'm at the mall. Bye." I shook my head and hung up.
My phone rings right after I just throw it on the bed. I have a habit of throwing things everywhere. With a groan, I pick up the phone and muttered, "What now." The caller ID says Price Charming. Okay?
"Hello?" I sit back on the bed. "Lis?" I heard a familiar voice over the line. "Adam?" I asked back. "Oh. It is you." He laughed. What the- is this really Adam? I must have been really drunk that I saved his number as 'Prince Charming'.
"I thought you gave me the wrong number" He laughed, his beautiful angelic laugh. It sounds just like everybody else's but, you know, love changes the little things.
"What? Of course not. Why would I do that." I used the flirtiest voice I could. "That's nice. Um, Melissa, I was wondering if you are free this Friday?" My heart is literally trying to get out of my rib cage. "This Friday? I-I guess so.. why?" I bit my lip in anticipation.
He cleared his throat, "I want to take you out to this cafe I just found. It's somewhere near school. Are you up for it?" Is he kidding? I started to bounce up and down on my bed. This can't be real. "Yes! Yeah, absolutely." I said after a few seconds, while adjusting my hair in the mirror. This is too good to be true.
"So, I'll pick you up after school. See you Friday, Melissa." I love the way he said my full name. "Yup, okay, see you soon." I hung up. Then screamed.
I heard my mom coming up the stairs to my room, "Melissa is everything okay?" She knocked on my door. "Yeah, um, cockroach."
She sighed from the other side of the door. "I thought you were dying." She mumbled and walk away. Trust me mom, I am dying right here. I text him my address and get into the shower.

I've been doing my homework for three hours now, after eating dinner and watching a couple of movies of course, untill I heard the front door open and close. It's got to be my dad, I got up, brushing all the dust from the chips I was eating while trying to solve Algebra and head downstairs to greet my dad.
When I got to the stairs I heard the sound of my mom's voice. "You went to work at 7 and finish at midnight everyday. It has never been like this before, Jared. I know you finished work earlier. Where did you go?" The disappoinment in my mother's voice is clear. I sat at the top of the stairs, listening to their conversations.
He sighed, "I don't know what you're talking about. Like I said before, they gave me tons of work to do since a lot of people were fired. The company is getting more attention now, and we need all the energy we have." The couch squeaks when he sits down. There's silence before my mom starts talking again. "Everyday? Don't lie to me Jared, you don't even get a raise from all the 'extra work' you do, which doesn't make any sense." She raised her voice, folding her arms in front of her chest as she stares down at the uninterested man in front of her.
"Whatever, I'm tired, tell Lissa I can't take her to the beach next weekend. I have to fly to London," He says, getting up and taking his coat with him. Well there goes my plan with El, I have to apologize to El later since this isn't the first time I had to cancel on her because my dad is busy. I hear the footsteps of my dad climbing up the stairs before I ran to my room and lock the door. He didn't notice me, did he?Something is wrong between mom and dad, it's obvious. I noticed how distant and cold dad had been lately. I thought he was just stressed with work, which could probably be it. But from their conversation earlier I know mom has something else in her mind. I don't want to think it's true. Dad won't do that to mom, right?
